The Blahs

I have the blahs. This time of year, it is quite common in Chicago. We go long stretches of time without seeing the sun. The sky is this nondescript gray color...Which leaves you wondering what time it is, pretty much all day. Here, I'll go take a picture...
You tell me what time it is? Can't tell...can you?

I'll snap out of it...I always do. There's plenty to blog about...

-Golden Globes- Ricky Gervais, dude you let me down:(

Best dressed Toni Collett. I just LOVE her! The pic doesn't do the dress justice...smokin'!

Worst dressed Chloe Sevigny. What the heck us up with that? It hurts my head to look at it:/
...and Tina Fey. (I have no words...other than, how did this happen to you?)

-24-is back, and on my dvr. Am I the only one still watching?

-American Idol-Why do I enjoy watching this train wreck every year ('cause I do)? Will I once Simon is gone?

-LOST- I know you're coming back...I can smell you...Last season, and you got some 'splainin to do.

-Winter Olympics in Vancouver-OMG...I am so jacked up, you don't even know! (parking my butt in front of the TV for two straight weeks) Yes, the Bro is working it. I might (might) go to the closing ceremonies...

See...lots to blog about...just gotta get out of the blahs...

Open Letter to Melrose Place

Dear Melrose Place,

It was a long, trashy, seedy, campy road we traveled in the 90's. You know what, I watched every sappy a** episode! Every pool cat fight, every couple scramble, every Joe killed my crazy lover, baby stealing, Allison the Billy loving alcoholic I'm moving back to Atlanta episode.

C'mon, you didn't forget the progressive parties we single gals threw every Monday night in your honor? Did ya? We all poured into my 4th floor walk up studio apartment and ate Chinese, chips-n-dip, cheese popcorn, cookies, brownies...all while drinking really cheap wine and screaming at the TV. Until, one by one, my single girls peeled away, and I was the only one left to watch Peter and Amanda get married and walk into the sunset...

We had some good times Melrose...Seriously, how can you forget when Bruce hung himself in Amanda's office with the note "congratulations on your promotion" pinned to him...

What about when, Sydney became a stripper, only to be busted by the boys of Billy's bachelor party:O Sydney *shaking my head*...what a sad little tart you were...or should I say are...or is it soon to be a were again?

Oh...I know, how 'bout when Kimberly came back from the dead...no wait...when Kimberly goes into the bathroom and starts scratching at her forehead, and rips off a wig to reveal her bald a** head with that humongous scar!:O (OMG!) I mean really, you had us at back from the dead...and then you went and threw that in...Holy, well played, Batman *applause*;)

No, no, no...what about when Kimberly BLOWS up Melrose Place...that Kimberly, what a crazy Micheal loving b*tch she was!

Well...now you want to come slithering back into my life like some lame excuse from Michael about how you weren't really sleeping with my sister, you were just laying in bed naked with her...and you want me to take you back. I'm not sure how I feel about this...

Don't get me wrong, what we had was wonderful...totally, it was...but can we every really go back?

What if I'm too grown up (heh heh...I just said "I'm too grown up"...heh heh) and you're too immature for me? (I mean really...Ashlee Simpson...really? Can she sing? or act? or sing?)

I'm just not sure I'm ready to make a commitment to you, only to have you not be the pure soapy trash that I would expect you to be...(not that the bar is set high...or is it low?)

Torn between two MP's,
Nap Warden
p.s. What if I just sit by the pool Tues. night and see what happens? Who knows, I might even rip off my clothes and dive in for a swim;P

p.p.s. I can't believe I ever thought you were cool! (but you were sooo cool {hugs})

Where You Get a Baby

(Scene, Miss Peach in back of the stroller, The Little Man in front...after leaving the park)

Miss Peach: "Mommy, how come some people don't have kiddos?"

Me: "Well Miss Peach, some people just haven't had kiddos yet."

Miss Peach: "Well why don't they just go to the hospital and pick one up?"

If only it were that easy. For now, I think I'll let her think babies are something you can pick up at the hospital;)
________________________________________

Couple things...I gotta mention Idol. Thank goodness I DVR'd the final. Was it me, or did that show last FOREVER?!? I'm cool with Kris winning...he's a cutey, and he won me over (just like everyone else) with his Kayne West cover. So...yay Kris!

Now then...DWTS is a whole 'nother story. Shaun should not have won. I don't get why the judges were so fired up about her freestyle dance? I didn't think it was any better than Melissa's. I was kinda rooting for her:P

Oh, one more thing...go here to vote (you must log on to You Tube and click the rating stars) for Ohmommy's Hastily Made Tourism video...

Blog Your Passions

I watched Jon Stewart last night. Did anyone else watch it? I just loved what Arianna Huffington had to say about blogging! Check it out....(I know it's 6 min. long, but if you have a moment, watch)

"Blog your passions, both obvious and secret." Was her main message. That's kinda what I do. I found my passion through this blog. I had no idea I could illustrate before blogging. Turns out...I'm pretty good at it (if I do say so). She also said "blogging is a first draft of history." She meant that you blog as if you are talking to a friend...without editing. I really love that advice (mainly because that's how I blog). She also said 50,000 blogs are created every day! Holy ton of blogs Batman...as a blog designer, I'm loving that stat!

I kind of wish Jon Stewart had been a bit more receptive to blogging. He would be a great blogger (I'd totally read it)! Now someone has gotta get me her book for Christmas...hint hint Husband;)

Did you see it? What did you think?

Denny *sigh*

I really had so much to blog about. Seriously, I have been writing blog posts in my head ALL day...

Things like why is Sarah Palin still giving interviews (go back to Alaska, and be Governor)? Why is Bill Ayers speaking to Good Morning America? Like how I, the last optimist, has left the building (I am so p*ssed off at the mess that is being made of the 3/4 of a trillion $ bailout!) and I just don't see a way out of it (be gone Henry Paulson...I don't trust you).

I was going to tell you all about how I heard that my health club might be closing:P I design blogs and illustrate, and almost every dime I make goes to the health club (programs for the kiddos, tennis for me, the play room...) That was the deal I made with myself...make the money and join the club. I mean, yes it's a dump. It's the club where folks go to work out (imagine that)! If my health club does close, I will need a marketing plan for my little design business (asking you smarties for ideas), because I will have to join the beautiful people club at twice the price! You know that club that the press keeps following Obama to when he works out? That's the beautiful people club. It's not as kiddo friendly, I can't walk to it, and I will need to put on makeup to go there:P JUST. NOT. AN. OPTION...Blech!

I had all these things swimming around in my brain...and then I watched Grey's Anatomy. There was Denny *sigh*.They were trying to sell me on the Izzy/Alex story line...and I was just about to bite...then BAM...Denny *sigh*. There is no way they will ever be able to write another man for Izzy because there's Denny *sigh*. I don't care that he's a ghost...I really don't. Keep him on the show. Kooky Izzy is dating the ghost, fine with me:) The whole rest of the show is circling the drain. Seriously writers, heart surgeon with Asbergers Syndrome? Seen it, Boston Legal. It's called an original idea, get one. Why don't the interns just tell the chief they aren't learning from Yang? He's all hoped up on the "teaching hospital"...no wait, just cut yourselves up instead. There's thinking...NOT:P The reality of it is, I don't care what you do as long as you keep Denny *sigh*.

Not Deep

Dah, dah, dah, dah...dah, dah, dah, dah! Yes, I watched the new 90210. Not only did I watch it, I had to work to watch it. The show got bumped by the Cub game, so I had to find a replay and DVR it. I'm not proud, I know it's complete garbage, but so is cotton candy...yummy, yummy garbage:PHere's the thing...I don't care about Aunt Becky (I don't know her character's name on the show). I loved seeing Kyle from Melrose, just make him Kyle from Melrose. I was all over Kelly Taylor (who is her little boy's Dad, I'm thinking Dillon). Oh, the Peach Pit has come a long way. I loved hanging out and having a latte with Nat:) Just give me what I want CW.
Bring back the whole cast, and let's just get rolling with The Same Old 90210. This whole high school new kiddo thing, don't need it. Andrea Zuckerman's daughter...don't care what she's doing in high school. Look at that bunch up there, they need jobs, bring the old show back, 'cause I'm totally in.
I just feel like they are giving my generation just enough of the old cast to make me watch, while playing to a younger demographic with the whole high school angle. Pick a side CW. Who do you want, them or me? Pick me, pick me, pick me!!!

Run Report
I ran 16 miles on Saturday through some major hills in the suburbs. I was pretty happy with it (9:36 mile pace). I need to be much faster than that on race day, but there won't be any hills like the ones I was running. Unfortunately, it is a good 40 min. drive from The Big City. I didn't get my stretch or cold soak in for a good hour after the run. The result...my legs are sore:P So, I'm off to do some resistance stretching right now. I gotta work out this soreness!

Random Thoughts Volume V

I might be going crazy...has this ever happened to you? I am totally sick of food. I don't mean that in some "I have to lose weight" kind of way. I mean, I am sick of thinking about what to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am sick of making breakfast, lunch and dinner. To top it off, I am sick of eating breakfast, lunch and dinner! I don't know where this came from? I am just sick of food. Weird, I know...
I started a MySpace page. Again, I don't know why. I just found myself on it...next thing I knew, I had a page. Now, I am not sure what the point of it is. So, I tossed some of my illustrations on it. So if any of you are MySpacers, befriend me or something, cause now that I have it...I'm not quite sure what to do with it...
On the running front, it is going better than I expected. I suppose taking care of two toddlers kept me in better shape than I thought. I ran three 5K's on my own last week, and topped it off with a five mile run. I'd say I kept a pretty respectable pace. No one is more surprised by this than me, I literally haven't run in a year! On days when Husband gets home late, I pile the babies into the stroller and take them with me. Soooo hard! We are talking about 80lbs of kiddo and stroller! It makes me feel like a Clydesdale, but I keep chuggin' along...
Did anyone watch DWtS, or AI? I thought they were both really boring finales:( Kristy Y. won (big shocker). Looks like David A. will win AI (again, big shocker). Too bad, I was rooting for David C...amend that, yay David Cook wins!!!
Lastly, holy Horatio got shot on CSI Miami! I do have a spoiler, so don't read on if you don't want to know...Apparently, H. is going underground to take care of "some business", so he faked his death. Seems pretty fishy to me. I mean, how do you come back from that? Plus, he's doing it to "protect" Saved by the Bell girl (who I can't stand, big ole' bucket of bad casting there) and the kid. Last time I checked, she was a criminal and belonged in jail (didn't she kill a witness?)...So why is H. going out on a limb for her? I suppose I won't get any answers until the fall. Boo hiss!

Wine...not Whine.

I am finally sitting down with a glass of white wine...*exhale* It was one of those days...you know, where the babes cried and fussed all day. They did take naps (thank God) but they woke up cranky, cranky, cranky! Of course, Husband barely made it back for bedtime...so I had to do dinner by myself. The end of the day just gets hard, especially when I have to do it alone with two cranked out toddlers. So...I am having another sip of wine, and trying not to sound like whine;) Thankfully, I can report that they are both silent...yay:) The Little Man shrieked for a while before finally finding sleep:P
Are you all watching Idol? Did you see Simon after Fantasia sang? 'Nuff said. Everyone is crying...I've had enough of crying for one day. I say David Cook wins...the end.
Speaking of cranky...I have been cranking out blogs for folks. I don't know if I have hit my illustrating stride yet, but I have really come a long way. Guess what...I can draw! Who knew? I draw it first, import it to Illustrator...and go from there. Today's illustration...Yes, I drew this...not that I'm tooting my own horn or anything;) This one is for a new blog of a Mom who is training for the Iron Man Triathlon! I just had to turn her into Iron Mom the super hero:) I really like how it turned out, so I thought I'd share.
That's all I got...looking forward to LOST tomorrow, now I'm gonna go watch Syesha get voted off Idol...

Shows I Miss...

First, I want to thank everyone for wishing the babies and I well through our miserable flu. I am happy to say we are all on the mend. Yeah team! Moving on...You know I am a bit of a TV junkie, right? Here are some shows I'm missing, the writers strike is over...come back soon!
1) CSI Miami-I am completely addicted to this show. Husband thinks I have a bizarre obsession with Horatio. I need my CSI Miami...come back to me Horatio!
2) Grey's Anatomy-I know it is quite possibly the worst TV ever, and yet...I miss it. Now, I will go sit in the corner with my dunce cap on:(
3) Women's Murder Club-I love Angie Harmon, and this show started to grow on me...Now, I can't even remember what was going on.
4) Desperate Housewives-Again, I am hanging my head in shame for admitting this.
5) Samantha Who?-Another show I started digging...Where'd it go?
6) Dirty Sexy Money-Not great TV, but it amused me...can't find it.
7) Boston Legal-I don't know if they ran out yet. I love this show and I haven't seen a new episode in a while. Did they run out to?
8) Private Practice-I have to ask myself why I watch so much garbage on TV. Here's another really bad show I watch.
9) Entourage-This show is on HBO. They seem to have there own schedule going, so is it coming back...I don't know?
10) Rescue Me-Usually when Nip/Tuck ends, Rescue Me starts...Are they coming back, no. They are out of episodes:(
11) CSI-Gone, gone, gone.
12) The Office-not addicted to this show, but I'll watch a new episode if it's on...
13) Curb Your Enthusiasm-I put this show on for Husband...he loves it.
The networks are determining on a by show basis what shows are coming back and when. On the up side, eight new episodes of CSI Miami will start airing March 24, Yay!

Not Deep....

So, Grey's Anatomy finally let me off the hook by showing a rerun this week...Yay, I don't have to torture myself with it! What did I do? I will tell you...I watched Scrubs. I love this show, I used to watch it when it was on Tuesdays. Will someone please tell me why I have been watching Grey's instead of Scrubs? Scrubs is so much more witty, fun, fast, sarcastic...It really is an all around better show...It is! So why am I watching Grey's? Oh yeah, that's why...I'm so shallow (hanging my head in shame)...

Pay Them!!!

Pay them now, pay them whatever they want, pay them, pay them, pay them, pay them...OK seriously, pay them! You know I am talking about the writers strike. Let me nutshell it for you...They want more money. Currently writers have a crappy deal with home video and DVD's, and the networks make bank. What do they want, a bigger profit share from "new media", you know, Internet and mobile phones. Seems fair to me. I mean, what is the head of NBC making, 20 million?!
The talk shows are the first in the line of fire. I'm OK with that until you get to The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. I love these shows, I need these shows. It takes a team of writers to pull these shows off, and they are out of commish' until this is settled. Not happy! Next up is soaps, they are about a week away from the carnage, I don't watch 'em but I am sure fans will not be happy. Big prime time shows should not be effected until the holidays. Yes, I am hatin' on Grey's Anatomy right now, that doesn't mean I want it to go away!
Scripted prime-time shows are in good shape through the end of the year. But midseason favorites could be affected by a lengthy strike, though a half-dozen episodes have been completed for popular shows like "Lost" and "24." Here is where the world stops for me!!! Do not be messin' with my LOST!!! It is bad enough that I have to wait 'til 2008 for my next LOST fix! Once you roll that bad boy out, you better not be pullin' it! "Half a dozen episodes", half a dozen!?! Not good enough!!!
Bottom line, pay them!!! I want my TV back, and I want it now. I need my Colbert Report! I need me some LOST! I just got Nip/Tuck back, don't take it away from me now! Pay them, pay them, pay them, pay them!!!

Oh Paleeeeeze!

OK, since I haven't found anybody else bloggin' Grey's Anatomy, I'm doin' it myself! Yes, myself! Come'on writers of this show!!! Come'on! I just have such a hard time believing that what'sherface...what's her name???? Merideth, that's it, Merideth has McDreamy (remembered his name) saying he loves her, wants to marry her, have kids with her, and grow old with her...and she can't handle it right now!?! Get over it girl cause McHotty ain't stayin' on the market long. I personally don't think, ponytail girl, you are hot enough for him! Just throw McDreamy another chick, cause I am sick, yes sick of the Merideth not ready for McDreamy love storyline! Done, done, done! I mean look at this dude...Hotty McHot, hot, hot. He ain't waitin' around for Merideth!!! Moving on...The whole Izzy, Torrez, O'malley love triangle why? Why did you have to go there? I would rather have Izzy in love with the ghost of Denny *oh Denny*...I loved the Izzy Denny story, and you had to go and kill him off, boo hiss! Now bring him back as a ghost, you did it once, you can do it again. I don't want Izzy and George to be a couple...I'm not even rooting for them. Given the choice, I'd rather see her with Alex...I liked the direction you were going after Denny with Alex, then you toss George into the ring! In the words of Homer Simpson, Doh! What are you doin' to me??? I don't know how you are going to fix it, just fix it!!! I want it fixed, and I want it now...So get on it OK!!!

Scenes From the Park

Better day today! Loaded the team in the stroller and headed through the park for Mommy Bootcamp (workout group for moms with strollers). On our way through the park I faintly hear the theme from The Greatest American Hero. Now, if you are a Gen X-er (which I am) you must remember that ridiculously fabulous show, right?
Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air.
I never thought I could feel so free-ee-ee!
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer...
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me.
(I could sing the rest of the song, but I will spare you.) This just keeps getting louder and louder. We get to the tunnel, and out comes a teacher and about ten three year olds chanting the song. I see this group quite often in the park. They are from a preschool which costs more money than any college I attended...but they are cute nonetheless. They went their way, and we went ours. Now of course I have picked up the song and it has been in my head ever since....
Looks like the light of a new day.
Hit me from out of the blue.
Wakin' me out of the spell I was in.
Makin' all of my wishes come true...
Dah dah dah dah da, da da da da da Dah...
Now I have passed it on to you. Good luck getting that out of your heads;) This would make a hilarious Halloween costume for a guy BTW!!! While we are on the subject...In the superhero obsessed television world we are in, why haven't the TV Gods resurrected a remake of this show? Would I watch??? Totally!!!

Age of Lame...

So after weeks of threatening to eliminate herself from the show, crazy Marie finally follows through with her threat...and no one cares, including me, yet I continue to watch this lame monotonous show. Marc of course tells Marie that she was not going to be eliminated...blah, blah, blah...off she went. I will miss the crazy, not really. Now the remaining three find out they will be traveling to Australia to meet Marcs' family...Yeah travel! No wait, more drama. Megan battles her fear of flying and walks down the gang plank, but wah, she can't get on the plane. Cry, cry cry...blah, blah, blah...Our little 21 year old Megan leaves the show. Of course player man Marc takes one more opportunity to make out with Chicky chick before she leaves...and no one cares, including me, yet I continue to watch. Now there are two left, 20 something Amanda (see hooker outfit during salsa bit) and 40 something Jen (see very nice but honey you can do way better than Marc P). Luckily for everyone involved, this show ends next week. Yes, I will be watching, much to my shame and embarrassment. I am rooting for Jen since Amanda is an absolutely unbearable, sleazy, manipulative pain in the arse...I am not ruling out Marc turning the table on both of them and bringing back little sad nonflying Megan, he seems to really be hot for the young ones. So, there you go...more than you, or I ever wanted to know about lame, lame TV...I loves me bad TV!
