She's better at it than me...and she knows it.

So...this went well.

My sister in law needed a photo of us. It's odd that as a blogger, I have a bah-jillion pictures of the kids...but literally NO pictures of myself.

I am never in pictures. Since we needed a quick family photo on the fly, I sat down and figured out the timer on my Nikon. While you can figure out the camera...you can't make the kiddos sit still and smile:/

Whatevs...I still love this picture :D

Ladies Shoes

Back to School! (1st and 3rd grade)

They went back to school! They were ready, they were excited, and they were well dressed;)

Between you and I, I was a bit worried about The Little Man. He did not have a good year last year, so we transferred him to the same school as Miss Peach.

New school=worry.
Turns out, there was no reason to worry. Look how his little face lit up when he saw me at the drop off:)

The first thing out of his mouth was "The day seemed really short Mommy!"

That's a win in my book!

So this happened...

Miss Peach got some temporary tattoos. Did not know they made them for your feet.

Kinda cute...in a weird, I'm really glad they're temporary sort of way;)

The Elephant and the Whale

You could not have picked a more appropriate play for my little Peach to see.

I mean...remember the first live elephant she ever saw? She's a bit on the crazy side when it comes to elephants.

Cue Saturday, we were invited to see The Elephant and the Whale at the Chicago Children's Theatre.
I really had no idea what we were in for...and I was blown away. Miss Peach was beside herself from the moment Ella the Elephant came into the scene. Vintage cartoons, wooden puppets, actors and silhouetted projections were all used to tell the tale of Ella, and her unbelievable friendship with the unfortunate whale who found herself at the circus.
Being Mommy, I was worried that Miss Peach would get upset if anything happened to our hero Ella the Elephant. Happily, Ella was a brave loyal elephant, determined to get her whale friend back to the sea.

We jeered, cheered, got sprayed with water and had a grand old time!
If you are in the city, or coming to the city with kiddos, I highly recommend seeing the show.

Check out the Chicago Children's Theatre for ticket info. The show runs through May 26.

*While I was given tickets to the show, all the views are mine, and there was no compensation for this post.

Nature Walk

Miss Peach and I went for a nature walk over the weekend.

Not much nature around here...still lots of brown, muddy ground.

We saw this little flower peeking through the dirt.

She insisted I take a picture.

Glad she did;)

Schoolhouse Rock

Kiddos: "Mommy, did they have cartoons way back when you were a kid?"
Me: "Yes...they did have cartoons WAY back when I was a kid...only they were shown on Saturday mornings."
Kiddos: Mommy, what was your favorite cartoon?"
Me: (thinking a moment) "Actually, I liked the cartoons between the cartoons."
Kiddos: (furrowed brows) "Huh?"
Me: "Some smart people called Schoolhouse Rock, figured out a way to teach us, by making really fun, catchy cartoon music videos." "So, we watched them...and the next thing we knew, we could recite the Preamble to the Constitution, or we knew what a conjunction was, or what an adverb was, or what the Boston Tea Party was...sneaky folks those Schoolhouse Rockers."
Kiddos: "How did you feel when you figured out you were learning and watching cartoons?"
Me: (shaking fist in the air) "Darn you Schoolhouse Rock people for tricking us into learning...Darn you!""Wanna see one?"
Kiddos: "YES!!!"
Me: (pulling this up on my cell phone) "This was one of Mommy's favorites..."
They. Were. Mesmerized!

Miss Peachism

Grandma: "That was a real labor of love."
Miss Peach: "I know what labor means. I know what love means. I even know what of means. What the heck does labor of love mean?"

Up a tree

You will be pleased to know that not only are there trees to climb in the city...but my kiddos is pretty darn good at climbing them;)

Wee one

Miss Peach loves Ellen. She's totally jealous of those two little tutu wearing girls who are on the show all the time (I can't remember their names:/)

Anyway, we watch it all the time while Mommy works on her computer.

Today, I'm working away and she says "Mommy is Ellen's 1,500 show a wee one?"

I'm like "1,500 shows is not a wee one, it's a lot of shows."

She was a bit irritated while hanging her head upside down off the bed still watching the show "No, is it a WEE WON?"

Again I say "1,500 shows is a lot, I wouldn't call it "wee""

"NO MOM, A WEE ONE!"

We lather rinse repeated this for a while and I kept thinking "that's a lot of shows" then it clicked...

"OH...a REEERUN!" "Yes, Ellen's 1,500 show is a rerun:)"

Sleeping in space

For the most part, we are not doing summer camps this year. When you have two kiddos, most of them come out to about $1,000 a week! I am just not there right now...

That being said, I do think it's important for them to not have every moment of every day structured.

Today, we went to the library and checked out an Adler Planetarium pass. The kiddos had a BLAST!

Miss Peach will now demonstrate for you how an astronaut sleeps in space...

A day at The Art Institute

Face painter

Went to the carnival at Miss Peach's school this weekend.

Is this not the BEST face paint you've ever seen?!?

I kinda want one for myself;)

So it begins...

Miss Peach created an email account for herself. Then she sent me this email...
It says "can you make me a blog/i love you"

I didn't know I could put backgrounds on my emails...how did she figure that out???
