When you know Photoshop...
...you get emails from your Mom like this:
"I need you to take all the tack off this horse (both sides) and make him look like he does not have any on him. Need a box around him that does not show carriage or harness.
Can you do that?"
Well heck yes I can do that...but do I want to do that???
I opened the images...dang it! This is gonna take forever:/
Look at all the crap on this horse! Both sides!!! I immediately tossed the pics in the trash and ignored it.
Then Mom called. I told her this would take FOREVER...and that I'd have to recreate things that weren't even there...like eyes.
To which she said "I need them to register this horse with the AMHA. It's all the way down in Aurthur (three hours one way from her) with Amish trainers, and they can't take digital photos..."
OK...I don't even know how to respond to that. Amish people...Aurthur...I'll do it already:P

I know it isn't perfect...and Mom said I didn't have to take out the halter and reins (Thank goodness, 'cause that would have taken another hour!)
Yeah...so...I'm eagerly awaiting the next Mom project. (Kinda not really;) )
...aaaaand that's what happens when you know Photoshop.

Content Aware Fill (The power of Zeus!)
I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting...and I finally got my hands on Photoshop CS5. Why did I want it so badly? Three words...
Content. Aware. Fill!
It's easy to use, super duper cool, and comes in both Photoshop CS5, and Elements 9.
Here's my cute Little Man...when he was still little:)
He looks like he's up to something...anyway, mommy's Macbook Pro power cord is behind his head. Making for a not so nice picture:( Until...content aware fill:)
Now it's an easy fix. Bring the photo into Photoshop, it's a good practice to duplicate the layer so you don't edit on the original (Ctrl+J (Win) / Command+J (Mac))
Now, use the polygon lasso tool
to select the area you wish to edit.
Next, click Edit at the top menu, and then click Fill. When the dialogue box comes up...
...simply click Content-Aware from the drop down options in Use: and click OK. What happens next...churn, churn, churn...and poof!
I only had to do minimal clean up with the clone stamp, and healing brush tool.
Is it perfect? No...Is it way better than what I used before to remove unwanted objects...You bet!

I'll be the first to admit it to you...I. don't. shop. Where were we on Black Friday?
We went to the Conservatory. They have a wonderful Christmas Train exhibit. The Little Man remembered it from last year, and we've been stopping by every week until it opened. They're just toy trains, but the kiddos LOVE them (Miss Peach not as much as Little Man. It's also free, which Mommy loves.)
I took some pics, that I'll show you, while I b*tch about a couple things in the news last week that are making my blood boil...
First...this couple that "crashed" The White House party without invites. You've heard of this, right? They are some Richie Rich couple, trying to get on Bravo's The Real Housewives of DC. They crashed President Obama's first state dinner. Now, they are asking for MID SIX FIGURES for an interview! MID SIX FIGURES!!!
I sure as heck hope that no one pays them. These people are no different than the Balloon Boy's parents. Why would they get rewarded for breaking the rules? They shouldn't. I don't know if it's illegal to crash a party, but you can bet the taxpayers are picking up the tab for the investigation into how these folks got their pics taken with the Pres. They should not be rewarded, they (and whatever network was following them) should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Perhaps I'm being a party pooper here...I'm just sickity, sick, sick, sick of all these reality tv wanna be's taking short cuts to fame, and profiting from it. No free lunch here...get back to the end of the line.
Second...Adam Lambert. I watched him not win American Idol. (yes, he was robbed) Here's a guy who clearly has buco talent. I tuned into the AMA's just to see his performance...which was a gyrating, romp of tastelessness, ending in a guy on guy kiss.
The feed was censored for the West Coast, and Adam L. was promptly dropped from his GMA performance the next morning. Now, he's all over anyone who will point a mike in his face, saying the problem was that he's gay, and that he kissed a guy. What!!!!
My problem with his performance was so NOT the guy kiss. I've seen it on tv before, and I'll see it again...and I so don't care. My problem is, his performance sucked! I believed the good folks at Glee said it best. He resorted to "hairography" which is "Eye-catching hair--swinging, shaking--that masks a mediocre and lackluster performance."
Dude, you are talented...don't work so hard to be shocking...just be good. I do not believe all press is good press. You had an opportunity to make everyone want to download your song, instead, all they are doing is talking about how bad it was...well done...not:P
Lastly, holy new world in Photoshop CS 4! Has anyone explored "actions"? OMG...coolest. thing. ever! Soon, Photoshop will be editing my pictures, without me having to open it. Let me know if anyone cares about it, and I'll give you a quick tutorial on it. I'm telling you...Kirk to bridge...the future is here, and I'm loving it!
(Is it wrong that I want to plant a big wet kiss on the good folks at Adobe?)

Look who drew a turkey! You know it...me! Don't even think about vexing me pen tool. I got your number. Yes sir, I have been practicing with you...and you know, the more I practice, the better I get. No more Istockphoto for me sucka, I'm drawin' my own thank you very much! OK, not to be to cocky, I did look at turkey pictures on the web for ideas...but then I drew this one from scratch all by myself (while looking at a reference pic). I'm not there yet...but I'm gettin' closer. Yes, book from he**, I figured out how to change thickness on stroke the path, so there! Eat it book...As God is my witness, (shaking fist in the air) as God is my witness...I'll figure out how to draw in Photoshop!!!
Roy Lichtenstein I Ain't...
Plllllllllllt, that was my day. I mean it was just one of those days where everything was harder than it should be. Took the kiddos to the park, it was so cold and windy. They didn't want to be there, and they didn't want to leave...pretty miserable. Get home, feed kiddos lunch and start them down for naps. The Little Man just wouldn't go down. I mean he was yelling like someone was pinching him. Blah blah blah...just a day.
I was trying, during nap time to learn some new Photoshop. Trying, because I have it in my head that one day, I will be able to have some sort of career again. I want to stay home with my babies, but one day, they will go to school. I would like to have something for me again when that happens. My plan (pipe dream) is to be a freelance graphic designer. Right now, during naps, I try to learn more Photoshop. I want to be able to draw more with this program. Mastering the Pen Tool just vexes me! I bought a new book, while I like the book, it doesn't always take me exactly where I need to go. Stroke the path, great...I know how to stroke the path, but how do I make that stroke thicker? Can I control the thickness of that stroke...I don't know. It just peeves me.So this is what I drew in Photoshop today.
I look at it and see things I want to change, and I'm not sure how. I see shortcuts I didn't take, because I don't know how...Bottom line, I need to work more with the stupid, vexing Pen Tool! Blah!!! What do you see???

I'm Bored...
I want to change my header, I want to add some photos, I want to put my face into a picture of the model wearing my Halloween costume, I want to change my font, I want to do an "image-adjustment" and a "crop" on the pony photo, I want to add a picture of my rockin' new jeans, I want, I want, I want my computer back!!! I wanted to show pics of Halloween costumes past (they are on my computer)...So, what's everyone else doing today? Please my friends in the blogosphere...entertain me...I'm bored! I miss my friend Photoshop, I think I'll write a country song about it...
