Crazy House

There are no words to describe the insanity that is this house...I drove up north to visit The Bro yesterday afternoon. They are doing massive construction, so I was sent on a detour, right past this house. Hello crazy:O
I had the camera with me, and I couldn't think of a better study of depth of field, and shooting in macro. To say that there are a lot of layers in this scene is an understatement...beyond that...it is complete. insanity.
Is that a giant bug on upside down naked lady mannequin legs?

At first, I thought...well, some frat boys must live here. Then, I thought...maybe this is just Halloween decorations gone terribly wrong. (Remember, I still have the Christmas tree on the patio...who am I to judge?)
To which The Bro said..."Nope, some old couple lives here, and it's this way year 'round."
...and then I started to get really creeped out:/

Ummm...baby heads on croquet mallets? Not art.
I seriously could have taken 50 more pictures here, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched...

by someone with an axe...

on the front porch...

just behind the tree:O

No need to turn this into a horror movie, so I moved on. (See what happens when you leave the city? Sheesh!)

*Come back tom. for the Smokey Chuck Project...gotta go buy cotton balls...Smokey is not going to dig this:/

  1. This is Sid's house, when he's all grown up. You know, Sid from Toy Story, the toy torturer? Hope none of your kiddos' loveys had to witness the carnage.

  2. No, thankfully the kiddos were not with us.

  3. That is totally bizarre but kinda cool too.

There is a house we pass that has maniquins intact in their yard for decoration.

  7. Did you ask your brother if they had seen any flyers for people missing from a nearby asylum? Just curious. Although, it's kind of creative, in a creepy way, but creative none-the-less.

The troll hair in the back makes it even better :-)

We have a house like that a few blocks away. They're by the beach and have a TON of random beach garbage on their lawn. Only, theirs looks more like it washed up from the bay (rather than being placed there on purpose.

  10. Oh my GOD. That is beyond odd. An old couple, you say? Like, one that catches kids and keeps them in the basement?

  11. LOL That is awesome! I had to show my husband since you took a picture of Xavier with an alligater eating his hand and all, and he wants to go see it! I told him I'd ask you where it was if we ever drive through there, lol.

  12. Way creepy. At first I thought it looked similar to a house on our old street, but that place was just full of trash/junk, not "artfully" arranged weird stuff like this. When that house on our street caught fire, we thought maybe it would get cleaned up, but no, they just moved the burned stuff out there too.

  13. Forgive me, I find something about those buried legs strangely delightful. Blame it on my Hitchcock viewing habits, living in Austin, and/or the likelihood I'll be that odd neighbor with random elements strewn about the front lawn, but that is somehow morbidly funny. To everyone but their neighbors, I imagine; I'd be seriously cheesed if I actually had to look at this every day.

  14. I can't believe that you took photographs of my house, AGAIN!

    Just kidding.

    They are probably hoarders too.

  15. Interesting to say the least. Great pictures of a creepy setting. I too was thinking of Sid from Toy Story as I was looking at these. Too weird!

  16. Our friends have a neighbor just like this. Sometimes we just walk by the house to see what strange things they have added to the collection.

  17. Hello... that is beyond beyond beyond creepy! OMG! I'd have run away screaming! OMG... horror movie or what? I mean, these people cannot be normal. Can you imagine what the inside of their home looks like? OMG! Scary and freaky!

  18. ok... wow. I would be kind of creeped out if my neighbors "decorated" that way ;-)

  19. I'm feeling sooo happy that our neighborhood has a Homeowner's Association!

On a side note, I hope you're happy with yourself. I read your post on The House That Never Ends about 15 minutes ago and the song has been stuck in my head ever since! Argh!
