Dirty Little Secret

Don't judge me...
It was just after New Year's. Our Christmas tree was spewing pine needles all over the floor. Our cleaning woman (the one luxury I allow myself) was coming that day. I was damned if I was going to spend another week in pine needles...the tree had to go.

Husband and I could not get the dog'gone tree out of the stand...

What did we do?
Husband picked up the entire tree, and chucked it out the second story window....stand. and. all.

We vowed that we would deal with it next weekend....and the next weekend...and the next weekend...Well...now it's March 18...

We had our third 50 degree day...

...and our Christmas tree is still sitting on our patio...stand and all.

Don't judge me:/

  1. Don't feel bad - ours (or what is left of it - I burned the top of it in a campfire) is along the side of our house. Last year we stashed it under our porch, but we did some landscaping that makes that impossible now.

Oh and that reminds me of the year we lived in town and had to put our tree on top of our car (in APRIL) and drive it to my inlaw's brush pile.

    Yep. No judging here.

  2. Ha! I couldn't judge you if I tried. Why? Because I'm too busy marveling at the fact that my neighbors behind us still have their Christmas tree up and decorated in their living room. Oh, and did I mention they light it every night, too? Yep.

  3. Save it till April and you can make it an Earth Day tree ... Decorate it with recyclables??

  5. No judging here. We still have a fake tree in the powder room. I can't even blame the harsh winter for it's being there.

  6. We once kept a tree until May. No lie. I swear to blog that it stayed green until April. It was a very special tree. No judging here.

  7. No judging! I love it! Two words for you: artificial tree!

  8. It actually looks rather natural, there. A little ... thirsty? ... perhaps? ... but right at home.

  9. You could have some sort of ritual bonfire... a fitting send off for a loyal tree.

I second the motion for a artificial tree. I live in Florida, pine needles are the bane of my existence.

  10. Well, you can decorate for spring. :) I agree with the bonfire suggestion. How fun that would be.

I was laughing at the thought of a falling Christmas tree. Too funny.

    Have a great day!

  11. I remember back in the day, our mom bought a real tree, and it sat in a big bucket water inside and then in the garage. When the ground thawed, we planted the tree where it is in the ground still 25 years later. Green before green existed.

  12. LOL No judging, except maybe jealousy because I don't have a maid.

  13. Oh, and I have a fridge on my back deck that has been there from before it snowed.

  14. The original forecast for this weekend showed snow so it would have been perfect to get a nice dusting on that baby just in time to welcome spring.

No judging here! My son played a Christmas CD all morning.

  15. You should string some lights on it and call it a spring decoration :)

Actually, I just took our winter wreath off the door this week...

eh, you do what you can, right?

  16. CLASSIC! I got rid of my tree on New Years Day. I can never wait to get rid of it. It's March and I am still finding needs when I sweep.

  17. And this is why we have a fake tree. Because we would also have a dead bush near our house.

  18. Wow.

    Did you see this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCjHV63MQ4w

    You know, for next year.

  19. Lol! Love it! We once lowered a couch out of a third floor belcony. But we picked it up right away.
And if it makes you feel any better -- our lights are still outside. Don't judge please. :)
