Valet Parking for Christmas

Who ordered the cold? I know I didn't:P

This morning I knew I would be walking into the worst of the worst. Last night, it was raining...early this morning it froze. What does this mean to me? I will tell you...

My car is parked outside. We have our own parking space, but no garage:( Oh how I miss a garage. When we lived in the high rise, we had valet parking in a heated garage *bliss* You don't know how much I miss calling down to the gentlemen at the garage and saying "I will be taking the car out in about half an hour." they'd say "We'll have it warmed up for you:)" I miss my valet parking *sigh*

Cut to this morning...every. single. dog'gone. door. was. frozen. shut:\ Frozen shut!!! This means I have to pry open the trunk (which was frozen as well), crawl through the back, and kick out the doors from the inside. Do you know how NOT fun this is? So NOT fun!

I crawled in the back, shimmied up to the drivers seat, and did my best shoulder lean into the door. I have to ask, how the heck do the cops on Law & Order do that shoulder lean in and burst through a door? One hit to my frozen car door, and I though I was gonna loose my arm...it hurt:O So, I opted for swinging my butt around so I could get my foot in there and kick the doors out. Bah...can I just say, that's no way to start a morning:P

Santa, in case you're wondering what I want for Christmas...I want my valet parking, heated garage back.

  1. I do love my attached garage! Although no one warms the car for me it doesn't get too cold usually.

  2. Oh no that is cold.. When we moved I insisted we get a house with garages. Most of the summer the cars are outside with the garage full of lawn stuff. But in the winter I insist we be able to park in them.
    I love suburban living.

I'll ask Santa for you too!

  4. In case Santa can't fit that into his budget, perhaps an automatic car starter should be your more affordable option! Sheesh! Thank GOD I live in the south!

Seriously? I'm living in the frozen tundra and I've never had ALL of my doors frozen shut. WTH? THAT SUCKS!
No way to start a morning, indeed!
    Bring on the valet!

  8. Ay, it's days like that, that I am very thankful TOF rides the bus to preschool, although I still have to run down the driveway to get him off at noon. It's supposed to warm up over the weekend, stay warm!

  9. You are making me thankful for my decrepit, unheated, unattached garage. Though damn, valet parking sounds like the most beautiful fantasy ever right now.

Just think about how when your kids grow up, they are going to have awesome memories of their strong, powerful, kick ass mom busting open the frozen car doors!

  10. People on Law and Order can bust through doors because they aren't travel sized like you :-) Sissy strong, Sissy kick open door!

  11. Your valet parking sounded heavenly... wish I could have that type of service every morning! Also, living in Canada, (brrr right now!) I know what you mean. I hate those days when the doors are FROZEN! It's the worst! Poor you... not fun at all. I am still trying to find SOMETHING I like about winter... and... nope... NOTHING!!! By the way, I love your new header!

  12. Somewhere along the way I LOST you! Maybe you moved to a new domain...not sure! But I found you again over on The Unlikely Housewife! YAY! So sorry you are missing your valet parking....I can relate...I would miss my heated garage! Hope you're good...haven't time right now to read back awhile, so I'll have to stop by later...

  13. Sad sad...

I go though a similar process every freezing morning. I try to remember to start my car 15 minutes before I have to leave, but sometimes I'm in a rush and all of a sudden realize I'm not gonna get anywhere in time when I see how much ice I've gotta scrape off first.

  14. Wow, did not know that could happen! You sound like Superwoman!!

Anyway, we have a garage, a two car one to be exact, but can't get a vehicle in there coz it's full of the hubby's crap. Just sayin'.

  15. Good Lord, I haven't been able to fit my gigantic van into a garage in at least 6 years. I know what it is to have frozen doors. There is something that you can put on the doors and locks to unfreeze them. Can't remember the name... Of course, you can also use really hot water on the door jams, but then you have to make sure to get that stuff CLEANED OFF or else you'll have the same problem again! I'm always afraid of breaking my door handle (did it in high school. Not a fun experience. I had to climb in through the passenger door for years after that...)
