Downstate

You know, I really have started to buy into the whole idea that "The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You". Makes me kinda (only kinda) want an Iphone. I hear they take great pics. My Blackberry (which I love) only takes descent pics. If you don't hold your breath, and stand perfectly still...ya got nuthin'.

Here's the weekend from the camera that was with me...my Blackberry...We loaded up the fam., and went down to Springfield for the Christmas party at the Governor's Mansion. It kinda weirds me out how different things are when you get downstate. We literally parked right in front of the mansion, were buzzed by intercom through an iron gate, and walked up the driveway to the Governor's house...easy peasy. Thanks to my nephew James babysitting at the hotel, Husband and I got a little adult time to dress up, have a drink and wander around the mansion (thank you James).Here's how you know we are uber goober intellectual parents...We have a book about Abe Lincoln that we read to the kiddos. I kid you not...our kiddos were actually excited to go see Lincoln's home the next morning. Thanks to Lincoln's son, the tour is free to the public (yay free!). Thankfully, we were the only folks on the tour (the kiddos are a handful).I was frightened by the stove (and I took a pic for all you food bloggers). Can you imagine cooking on this thing? As someone who manages to burn herself cooking pizza...I'd have no chance with this iron monster:OI think they were thrilled to visit Abe's house...they look thrilled...don't they? Maybe I was imagining it:\ (yes, The Little Man is in his jammies, he was having jammie day...I'm a total slacker parent)No trip anywhere is complete without a gift shop, and check out what Miss Peach picked out. OMG...SO cute! She's like my little Laura Ingalls Wilder (only $6 thank you very much)....and on the way home, we stopped by Grandma Susan's Mini Horse farm. The Little Man was having no part of it, and sat in the car:( Miss Peach was beside herself chasing these little cuties all over the field. I love them in their winter coats:)

That's the weekend, everyone is asleep (thank goodness)...The Blackberry did OK...no? (I kind of want an Iphone, don't tell my Blackberry)
