Stuff n Nonsense (and a Run Report)

While the cool kids were in S.F. partying it up at BlogHer, I was back home torturing myself. I got up Sat. morning at 5:25 and was greeted by pouring down rain. You gotta be kidding me, another long run in the rain...c'mon! So, we (coach, Dr. Woman and I) drive out to the forest preserve for our 14 mile death march run. I kid you not...it never stopped raining...never!
I ran 14 miles in driving, pounding rain:P I saw 10 deer while I was running, at one point I heard horse hooves, and I believe I saw the Blair Witch! Let me just say, it is really (I'm talking really) creepy running alone in the forest preserve in a rainstorm! The fast folks cut out at the 12 mile mark. What did I do? You got it...I ran the whole 14 miles (at a 9:27 pace)...yay me! Soooo, since I am the only one who actually finished the assignment, I'm gonna count that as a win:)
Now, if your like me...you are at home, reading about all the fun Blogher was, and seeing all the pics of the beautiful people sharing the linky love, and just feeling pretty well left out:( Soooo, here's the only way my little brain can think to spread some link love around. Yes my dears, it's the "I wasn't at Blogher, blogroll update!", woo-hoo! Just comment, and tell me what you did this weekend, or tell me I'm not nuts for running 14 miles in the rain, or tell me how cool my Green Screen Challenge entry is (I know, I'm a dork), or even tell me how awesome Blogher was and I'll add you to the blogroll....aaaannnnndddd "go"!

  3. I tortured myself with babysitting gf kids all weekend, maybe she went to blogher LOL. I did manage to run two miles on Saturday morning and walked three, I'm just starting not sure if I will catch up to your 14 miles, but you have inspired me :)

  4. I've already told you I think you rock for running! I've already told you how cool your movie is!

I guess I don't even need to tell you what I did this weekend to get on your blogroll. Although I will tell you that I spent a lot of the weekend feeling smug thinking about all the money I saved by NOT going to BlogHer!

  5. Who needs BlogHer! WHOOP for your run in the rain!! Awesome to keep up that pace over FOURTEEN miles!!! In the rain. Being chased by the Blair Witch. WHOOT!!! So much better than fancy girlie drinks that will only go to your thighs and stay there forever!!! I rocked a 5K Saturday in the blistering heat! Eventually, I really will start upping my mileage!!

  6. You rock! Go you!

Well, this weekend was fairly boring although we did take the girls to a cool ag center and saw all sorts of creatures.

Nothing glamorous at all, but fun with the family. ;)

  7. I believe you deserve an award just for voluntarily running at all. Hats off to you for going the extra mile... errr, extra two miles...heeheehee.

This weekend, I mixed cocktails! Cocktails for my cranky teething baby that is... three shots of Hylands teething tablets and one shot of Tylenol. Shaken, not stirred (the cocktail, not the baby).

  10. No BlogHer here, either. I had a sick 4 year old on Friday, and a sick 1 year old on Sunday. Saturday was grocery shopping. Exciting life, I know.

I wouldn't have made it 14 miles in the rain. Or sun, for that matter.

You know what I was doing while everyone was at BlogHer? I was lying in bed with a freaking migraine. Ugh. Suckage.
But today I finally felt normal and ran a good 5 miles. Whew! :)

  14. I am impressed by your running, but it makes me want to take a nap just reading about it. Also, I haven't watched your green screen challenge video yet because I didn't get a chance after the kid was in bed, but I am super impressed you actually did one of the Colbert Green Screen challenges! I hope you win.

  16. Let's see, I went to the circus and an outdoor musical so while it wasn't Blogher, it was run.
And I must say that your run reports are making me happy that I chose not to train for a marathon with my sister-in-law!

  20. 14 miles in the rain? Amazing!

Me? I spent time with family and friends who we haven't seen in 5+ years - including my husband's ex girlfriend (and family), who we hadn't seen since her wedding. Yeah, no other comment needed.

  29. Yeah I didn't go. :(
But I wish I had!!!! And holy crap on the run!
If it had been me I would have said, "Ah rain guess I am not running today!!!"
Of course I would use that excuse if it were too sunny, windy, you get the idea.

  30. You go girl!!

Wish I had a forested trail to run on. I did 16 before 8am on Saturday, too. Only got my shoes bloody. No rain in So. Cal.

  31. Weekend went something like this:

    5:00am wake up
    entertain kid all day
    9:30pm exhaustion
    repeat

  32. Congrats on the run, you should be proud!

I went with some girlfriends to the Mile High Music Festival, where I saw John Mayer and Dave Matthews to just name a few! It was a blast.

    And, I didn't run.

    ReplyDelete
  33. No BlogHer for me either. I had the house to myself (no kids and no husband.) I cleaned and drank frozen sangria in all of my alone-ness glory! Props on the running, you are an inspiration!

  34. Wait a minute! Since when does not going to BlogHer make a gal a loser? I didn't go and I'm loving it! I'm hundreds of dollars richer. I'm many hours closer to my family. I don't have extra piles of laundry to do. I don't have to catch up on the dishes. I didn't "drink till he's cute" or eat too-expensive, too-fattening foods. What I did do: Went to garage sales & saved big $$$ on school clothes for the kids, went to a park & fed ducks, geese, fish, & turtles, played in the backyard, had "alone time" with my husband, went to church, and grocery shopped within my budget. Not the most exciting weekend but still, no losers here!

  35. Can I say again how impressed I am with your dedication to running? Despite many promises to myself every night, I still can't even seem to go for a simple walk.

    Gah!

  36. you are a running goddess and you rock and you're awesome. K.
Let's see.. THursday I got back from Vegas, Friday I attempted to recover some sleep.
Sunday I got in a car and drove to College Station to visit family and I'm still here because Dolly is a bitch but at least she didn't hit us straight on. Thank God!
