He blinded me with science!

One science fair project down, one to go. I knew my little Benny needed a topic that would interest him. SO...we did a Lego earthquake project.
He had to explain his project to TEN different people. Well done my boy...well done!

Snow Days

Not Boston snow...but Chicago has a lot!

Snow love

At least someone is enjoying the snow. Good thing too...we have a LOT of it!

So...this went well.

My sister in law needed a photo of us. It's odd that as a blogger, I have a bah-jillion pictures of the kids...but literally NO pictures of myself.

I am never in pictures. Since we needed a quick family photo on the fly, I sat down and figured out the timer on my Nikon. While you can figure out the camera...you can't make the kiddos sit still and smile:/

Whatevs...I still love this picture :D

Transformers 4!

Last weekend, I took the kiddos downtown to get some gelatos. We've been loving gelatos lately, and the downtown grocer has them for just a dollar, so it's a no brainer. Don't get me started on coconut gelato...Um. So. Good!

So...we take the 151 bus down Michigan Ave., hop off, and buzz up the street to the store. We turned the corner...and The Little Man's mouth hit. the. floor!
Uhhhh...we walked smack dab into the middle of Transformers 4 filming!

Hello Optimus Prime! If you are a six year old boy...this is pretty much as big as it gets!

Little Man was all: "OMG Mommy! Optimus Prime is REAL!"
I was all: "Heck yes he's real, he's right there!"
"...right there, hanging with his other cool car, robot friends...or car friends..."

OK, so maybe Mommy doesn't know so much about Transformers...but my Little Guy was sure impressed!

Back to School! (1st and 3rd grade)

They went back to school! They were ready, they were excited, and they were well dressed;)

Between you and I, I was a bit worried about The Little Man. He did not have a good year last year, so we transferred him to the same school as Miss Peach.

New school=worry.
Turns out, there was no reason to worry. Look how his little face lit up when he saw me at the drop off:)

The first thing out of his mouth was "The day seemed really short Mommy!"

That's a win in my book!

Lego Man Band

It's a rare moment when my Little Man isn't talking about Legos.

Yesterday after school, he made me film a Lego Band video to the tune of Gangnam Style. (No...I will not torture you with it...although I know you want to see it.)

That said, on the way home from school, he said: "I think it's ridiculous to put lip stick on a skeleton...I mean...they don't even have lips."

Well OK.

Oopsies...

My little fellow has had a loose tooth for weeks.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle...nuthin'

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle...nuthin'

A couple days ago, he was sitting on my bed eating oatmeal cookies...all of the sudden, he turned white...

"Mommy...I swallowed my tooth :( "

Poor little fellow swallowed his first tooth. I felt so bad. Thank goodness that Tooth Fairy is a sharp cat. She came anyway;)

King of the World

Little Man: "Mommy...the Doughnut Titantic sank into the milk....It's OK though...all of the passengers were sprinkles;P"

*I know Titanic is spelled wrong...that's how he says it;)

Bring it

We are supposed to get dumped on. "It's on it's way" is all I'm hearing from the talking heads on the news.

All I can say is...
Bring it.

Schoolhouse Rock

Kiddos: "Mommy, did they have cartoons way back when you were a kid?"
Me: "Yes...they did have cartoons WAY back when I was a kid...only they were shown on Saturday mornings."
Kiddos: Mommy, what was your favorite cartoon?"
Me: (thinking a moment) "Actually, I liked the cartoons between the cartoons."
Kiddos: (furrowed brows) "Huh?"
Me: "Some smart people called Schoolhouse Rock, figured out a way to teach us, by making really fun, catchy cartoon music videos." "So, we watched them...and the next thing we knew, we could recite the Preamble to the Constitution, or we knew what a conjunction was, or what an adverb was, or what the Boston Tea Party was...sneaky folks those Schoolhouse Rockers."
Kiddos: "How did you feel when you figured out you were learning and watching cartoons?"
Me: (shaking fist in the air) "Darn you Schoolhouse Rock people for tricking us into learning...Darn you!""Wanna see one?"
Kiddos: "YES!!!"
Me: (pulling this up on my cell phone) "This was one of Mommy's favorites..."
They. Were. Mesmerized!

MERRY go round?

I promise you, The Little Man is having fun. He's just a bit nervous...He held on tight...but he's having fun.

I fear this is the last year he's gonna need mommy to ride with him. They're just growing up so doggone fast!

Scootin' on the lakefront

Who is this big boy?!?

I said I was going for a run Sunday morning, and he said "Mommy, can I come with you?"

I'd missed him on my runs. It was a sad day when we retired the stroller, and I couldn't take him with me anymore:(

He said, "Mommy, I can ride my scooter with you while you run."

And. He. Did!

My Little Man scooted 3 miles down the lakefront and back through the park home again.

It was REALLY good to have him back on my run...Happy Mommy=)

Ready

Remember my Little Man who missed kindergarten eligibility last year by 4 weeks?

He was ready. Not sure Mommy was...his little face breaks my heart...but my Little Man was ready.

I walked him to his classroom. He held my hand. He ate his breakfast at his little seat...

I told him I was going to go, kissed him on the head, and told him I would see him at pick up.

"OK Mommy:)" he said.

I turned to leave and heard...

"I love you Mommy:)"

I love you too Little Man...knock 'em dead this year!

Ab-alicious

He's getting to be such a big boy...

Would you believe he asked me the other day "Mommy, I want abs. How do I get abs?"

Where the heck did that come from?
