Friday, we enjoyed one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. Cirque du Soleil’s Luzia opened in Chicago and it did NOT disappoint. It is rare that the whole family is mesmerized by anything. We have literally spent the entire weekend debating which act we LOVED the most.
The show is "a waking dream of Mexico," and is meant to be an ode to the rich vibrant culture of Mexico. The name LUZIA fuses the sound of “luz” (light in Spanish) and “lluvia” (rain), two elements at the core of the show’s creation.
I was looking forward to the costumes. AH-MAY-ZING.
The integration of water/rain into both the show and the stage is nothing short of mesmerizing. Every moment was jaw dropping. Please be on the lookout for patterns in the rain. I've never seen anything like it.
Full disclosure, my kids asked me, "If I could be a part of any of the acts, which would it be?" What a tough choice. I am leaning towards the hoop and trapeze artist. They make it look SO effortless.
HOW do these talented acrobats do these performances in the rain?!
The Aerial Straps performer ... I could have watched forever. The rain and the stage and the performer created an act unlike anything I've seen. I love looking over at my kids faces and they are smiling ear to ear and completely entranced by what they are seeing. It's a family night out win FOR SURE.
The show is in Chicago now through September 3, 2017 (at the big top in the United Center parking lot.) I can not stress enough how much this is a must see. The music, the sets, the costumes are all part of the amazing journey that awaits. Find tickets here. Be sure to check out Luzia on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
