will travel.
OMG y'all! The Chicago Marathon is already full! That means 45,000 people have already pulled the trigger on it:O
I talked to my running girls...most of them are totally on board with us gals running the long runs in our little pack, and running with the guru once a week. Now, we all need to find a marathon.
I'm looking for a good flat Midwestern marathon. Who's got one?
Conversation in my house today...
Little Man: (to Miss Peach) "Do you want to race me?"
Miss Peach: "No, I don't feel like it."
Little Man: "OK then, I'll just go for a run."
He then proceeded to do laps around the dining room, and living room...
He's definitely my kid;)

ReplyDeleteAround the table, now that's my kind of run.
ReplyDeleteTwin Cities is NOT flat but it's a good one and it's near me :)
ReplyDeleteI would think flat would be easy in the midwest.. the parts I have seen anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.. I'll watch.
Who needs an expensive treadmill when you can do laps around the couch? My kind of kid ... money-conscious and fit! =>
ReplyDeleteWow. A marathon!?! That is awesome and since I am so in awe of the fact that you want to run one it is probably pretty obvious that I have no suggestions for where to run one.
ReplyDeleteMy dad has run the Columbus, OH marathon at least five times. Great first timer one, flat as can be. Lots of people use it as a qualifier for other harder ones I think. I personally can run about the length of my family room, so I can't speak from experience.
ReplyDeleteKansas City is NOT flat. I ran that half marathon once and about 4 miles in after what seemed like endless inclines, we finally hit a plateau, breathed easy for 2 seconds, and then turned a corner. Wham! I swear the hill immediately in front of us was a 40 degree incline. Nastiest thing I've ever had to run up. Almost unbidden, the words "Oh, F**k" came out of my mouth. Many of those around me indicated agreement with that sentiment. So, yeah, KC = not flat.

I think I'd keel over if I tried to do a marathon.
ReplyDeletehey, the Zurich marathon is happening soon. Sure, it's a little more West than you planned, but hey, can't have everything.
ReplyDeleteto funny about running laps in the house.
ReplyDeleteHouse marathon was definitely picture worthy. You son is too hilarious.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm no help at all. The only marathons I've ever participating involved my TV. Law and Order, anyone? No special shoes required.
ReplyDeleteMore power to you! If it were a biking marathon, I'd be all for it. Running I'm not very good at. I do have a friend who eats, breathes, and sleeps running though!
ReplyDelete@HyacynthW mentioned that you were organizing a Chicagoland blogger get together in a few months? Wanted to find out a bit more about it. Sounds like fun!!
Good luck with the marathon hunting... ;-)
