I picked up Miss Peach from school the other day. Miss Beth (wonderful classroom assistant) pulled me aside and said...
"Miss Peach is a wonderful little girl, and all you have to do is hear her talk, and you just fall in love with her. I don't know what happened today, but Miss Peach hauled off and hit a little boy, really hard, in the stomach. She didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with that. Just try to talk to her tonight, and see what was going on."
I hate to admit, that my first thought was..."Please don't be Kane, please don't be Kane, please don't be Kane."
Kane just happens to be this cute little boy in Miss Peach's class. His daddy is the owner/chef at a marvelous sushi restaurant downtown. I don't know why I want Miss Peach and Kane to get along? It's not like it means free sushi for me...and yet, there it is:P
Of course I ask Miss Beth who the little boy was...and it was Kane...figures:(
Miss Peach and I get home, and I ask..."Miss Peach, what happened today? Miss Beth tells me that you hit Kane. Why did you hit Kane? You know that we don't hit."
To which Miss Peach replies...(big sigh, and eye roll) "I don't know Mommy, I just yike him. I won't hit him anymore, but I just yike him." (Miss Peach pronounces "l's" as "y's". "Yike" means "Like" It's so cute I just want to squeeze her!)
First crush...can you stand it...I can't;)

How will she show her affection when "yike" turns to "yove"?! Keep us posted on the Kane/Peach dynamic.
ReplyDeleteHa, that is about the cutest thing I have ever heard! Oh man, she is just adorable! I think I'll have permagrin for the rest of the week from this :) ~Susan
ReplyDeleteAwww. Love hurts. Haha!
ReplyDeleteOh Lordy... And so it begins.
ReplyDeleteLOL...I'm with mep.....wonder what yove will bring....a kick in the nuts???? LOL
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like yove already if she hit that hard. And when you start getting free sushi give me a call pyease,
ReplyDeleteI've always told my daughter (when she complains about the boys teasing and picking) that it means they like her. A flat-out punch in the gut is huge. She's right. She REALLY "yikes" him. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad. It's totally normal (or at least I want to think so). When I was 6, I beat the tar out of this really cute boy named Zach. I even ripped his jacket during the scuffle. This was because I liked him and wanted him to notice me. He was, of course still in the 'girls are icky phase'. I had to write an apology note. The good news is we became really good friends later. Ms. Peach's crush must be really big!
ReplyDeleteso stinkin adorable. that was my first crush, kindergarten. And it was twins! wth was I thinking!?
ReplyDeleteMy little brother used to sing us a song, (he is 9 years younger) "i had a yittle turtle, his name was tiny time, I yut in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, and now he's home sick in bed with ::you have to finger blubber your lips:: bubbles in throat!"
When we would sing yittle back to him, he would yell, it isn't YITTLE it's YITTLE! darn it we still goof with him about that.
(anywho!)
if Miss peach doesn't know this song, it is a must!
oooh, that is cute. (mine says "yike", too and I love it).
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that she could express WHY she punched him. I think most kids wouldn't be able to realize the reason behind it. Very perceptive and self aware!
I think I'd be tempted to encourage hugging instead of hitting, but maybe that wouldn't be a great idea? Ooohh.. Maybe they'll grow up and be married and it will mean free sushi for you, after all!!! And wouldn't this be an awesome story to share at the wedding? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd yike my boys to come home with crushes one day soon so I could bask in this one day! Until then, I have to call my nieces to get my boy gosspi!
ReplyDeleteAww... and so it begins.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that is too cute plus it explains a lot of bruising my oldest son got in kindergarten from his little girlfriend, Bailey!!
ReplyDeleteI guess a little girl punching a little boy in the stomach is the equivalent of a little boy pulling a little girl's hair??
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
When she comes home after beating a cute little boy to a pulp, that's when you will know she's in love. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mep also. YIKES.
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that...Yike for like!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cute.
ReplyDeleteI know when I liked Tom, I think I punched him lightly in the arm and he was all, "Geez. Ouch!"
That is crazy cute! I can't believe the teacher didn't pick up on her crush?
ReplyDeleteThat is just so precious.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. :)
ReplyDeletelol! has anyone figured out yet why kids translate like into inflict bodily harm?? lolol
ReplyDeleteI yike Miss Peach too.
ReplyDeleteThey must get married so you can have free sushi forever.
ReplyDeleteOh I can tell Miss Peach is a gem ;-) So sweet, tee hee...
ReplyDeleteJamie :)
THAT is so cute!
