Garbage

It was supposed to be warm in the city this weekend. Now, maybe I just don't have enough meat on my bones...but it felt pretty darn cold to me. Today I took the kiddos to the park. It's one of my favorite playgrounds to take the kiddos to for a couple reasons.

One, it is completely enclosed with only one entrance. Cool, that means as long as I guard the door...I'm good.

Two, it has that rubbery floor. They didn't have the rubbery floor when I was a kiddo. I like it since, The Little Man and Miss Peach insist on putting their shoes on themselves. (this means my kiddos always have their shoes on the wrong feet) Translation...my kiddos trip...a lot. The rubber floor is way more forgiving than pavement.

That said...I hate that I feel like a crazy woman. I swear to you...I am in a constant state of yelling "No...garbage...put that down!" Gah...why don't people pick up their sh*t?!? I hate that! I picked up a nasty slushy drink from La Bamba that some schlep threw in the park. I picked up the hot sauce container they left as well. I picked up the bag that the burrito came in, along with the used napkins. Then I chased down The Little Man before he picked up the empty beer can that someone had tossed over the fence, which was of course surrounded by cigarette butts...Just pick up your sh*t people!

I do realize that it was St Pat's Weekend in The Big City, and the drunks were out in full force. Did they have to throw the half consumed extra large chocolate shake over the fence and onto my patio? Like I don't spend every waking moment picking up everyone else's crap. Why wouldn't I clean up after random drunk strangers as well? Really...thank you:P

On a completely unrelated note...opinion time. I haven't had a haircut in a million years. So, my hair is insanely long right now. I'm thinking about having my stylist cut it into a "v" in the back. Is that cool, dated, young? I just don't know...thoughts?

  1. You are singing my tune about the garbage. It makes me so angry. At our parks they have garbage cans about every 10 feet. But people still manage to throw their craps on the ground. It's so aggravating.

I personally am not a big fan to the v-cut. I had one in the sixth or seventh grade. It was cool then but not so much anymore. That's just me though. Maybe it's coming back.

  2. I sometimes let my kids pick up garbage at the park to throw away. It used to gross me out, but really what's the diff? Their hands are all over the playground equipment, and ME, after *I've* thrown the thing away. Anyway, we're all still alive...

I'm not sure about the V cut... Is that the new trend? I'm so behind the times!

  3. No idea on the hair - I just looked in the mirror shocked to see that my roots were so visible! ACK!

  4. I am right there with you on the garbage and that is why I am so hard on my kids about putting stuff in the garbage. We talk a lot about our world and taking care of it just like we take care of the inside of our house. Today my 18 month old went to pick up a cigarette butt. SO GROSS.

  5. Garbage on kids' playgrounds is so gross. Some of the nicer parks somehow stay clean, but the smaller neighborhood (closer to my house) parks sometimes look abandoned. I often pick up broken glass from beer bottles there so no kids get hurt.

Wish I knew what to say about your hair ... my hair is in the same state! I want to cut it but might wait till closer to my due date.

  8. I'm thinking you totally deserve a reward for that. I can't understand why some people have to be so disgusting, either. I only hope they don't LIVE as disgusting as they act. Blech!

  9. Garbage on the playground is annoying. My son has taken to putting everything in his mouth - I do not know why but I am constantly running behind him to ensure that he doesn't eat garbage. Today he ate a bug. Yuck!

  10. Uggghhhhhhnhhh....garbage!! Nothing drives me crazier than garbage at the beach!! But that is so LA...urban beach=urban garbage. Yikes.

Good for you for picking all that gross stuff up. What an example for your kids.

Now about that V in the hair...I have no idea. :-)

  11. I agree with the whole people picking up their own sh@t mentality. If I catch people leaving it behind (or not putting their shopping carts away, another pet peeve) I LOUDLY tell my children that they'd better NEVER be that LAZY!

I don't know about the haircut. Mine hasn't been cut since October and it was pretty long then. I want a 'bob'. hmmm, we need pictures.

  13. I don't know if it is dated - but that is how I have my hair - I don't like the straight chop across
