Strange New Years

What a strange New Years it was for me. I'm not sure if I totally am allowed to go into the whole saga, but let me start and see where we get to...

I didn't have any plans, I spent the day wandering around the blogosphere, and installing a new design. Somewhere along the way, I came across a blog I designed that had been made over by a new designer. It looked great...and I get that everyone likes to change (seriously, how often do I change my blog?) I don't know, I have/hate to admit...my nose was a bit out of joint over it:P
I know there is no rational reason for this:P I just can't help but wonder "did they not like what I did for them" or "why didn't they ask me to do the re-design" or "is so-in-so's work better than mine" let's not forget "do I suck?" I so know I am overthinking this...I do. It's not like I'm someones hairdresser and they dumped me, that would be a way bigger deal;) Then I found myself hating my design blog's look and in dire need of changing/updating it...We are talking downward spiral.....

Insert break here

Now I found myself driving down town to the hospital. This was so not what I had intended for New Year's Eve! It was so weird, like I was watching a movie. Here I was on Michigan Avenue, watching all the girls in their heels and short, cute, going out garb...and I was on my way to the hospital!?! How did this happen? (Now, everyone is OK, but I have to get permission before I go into detail on the hospital situation)

So, I sat in the hospital for about an hour and a half, then I went home. Seriously, a hospital on New Years is not what anyone plans for...

Back to the design crisis

I got up this morning, went back downtown to pick up _____ from the hospital. I was still wrestling with the whole idea of change and designing better blogs. I decided I didn't hate my look...I just needed to update it. Sooooo, I got home and sat in bed (with Miss Peach who was sick) and redesigned my NW Designs site (and added a custom domain to boot...went with www.nwdesignsit.com) Go check it out...I'll wait:) Looks good, don't you think? It is amazing how much better I feel now (yes I will be seeking help from the blog designers hotline)
There you go...that was my New Year's. If I get the OK, I will tell you all about the hospital...I really want to.

Give me something good...How was your New Years???

  1. Oh dear the hospital on NYE?! Mine was fairly craptastic too, my dear hubby got food poisoning or the flu( I am feeling quite icky today) so he was in bed at 6 and I spent the time working.

  5. Sorry, can't wow you. My dear husband was recovering from a stomach bug. So we stayed in last night. I didn't even see the ball drop. How sad is that?

Hope all was OK last night after your hospital run.

    Happy New Year!!

  7. I've come to the conclusion that New Year's Eve is way over rated anyway!!! That whole blog design, designed by you and changed by someone else would "bug" me too, but don't fret too much, you don't know "their story" and YOU don't "SUCK"!!!!!

  10. Happy New Year to you and your family!!!

Ok, here is therapist-me (quietly, yelling at you):

How many times do we have to tell you how wonderful you are??? Do your fan's opinions mean nothing to you anymore??? You are so talented and I/we wish that you would wake up and think/believe it about yourself too!

Yes, people(women) change their blog designs, we are women...we change EVERYTHING, we also have menstrual cycles, remember??? Please recognize your talent, and potential and let go of all the negative feelings and insecurities. Ok, I'm done.....we love you!

  15. Hey NW - I seem to remember it was not so long ago that you said designers don't get all whacked out when someone chooses to install a new design!! Do you remember? Oh, come on now....take your own advice on this one! Who knows all the reasons this person went to someone new - maybe it a was a favor for this down and out designer who was feeling all crappy about their work and that no one was hiring them. You know?

You kick ass. Being creative is tough. It's filled with all kinds of second-guessing and self-doubt. Part of the deal.

Your new blog design looks great!

    Happy '09!!!

  16. Your feelings were perfectly normal, and no, you don't suck!

My NYE was pretty tame. Dinner out, then home. Champagne at midnight. Bed shortly after that. Today, I've stayed home all day except for going to get some pizza. I worked on learning to use adobe for videos, made two scrapbook pages, and did some housekeeping. That's it! Oh, and I read because I really like the book I'm reading now.

Tomorrow I get to take my mom to see Radio City Music Hall Christmas performance here in Houston. It's her birthday present. I'm looking forward to that. And I have to pay bills. Boring.

Probably way more than you wanted to know!

  18. we got up and went to a friends house that by the end of the day had about 100 people in it. We ate way too much fun but had a great day of puzzles, games and conversation. We do this every New Years day so it is normal for us! Now I'm curious about the hospital...

  24. I wouldn't worry about the design thing. People are fickle, that's about all there is to it. Your designs look great.

I hope all is well post hospital.

  25. Sounds like an adventuresome new year's eve. I do like your look over there!

A few years back I was lucky enough to have surgery on new year's eve and be stuck in ICU for a few days - turned out the surgery was more difficult than planned. I remember hubs, who was only boyfriend at the time, had to go dj a party but he was with me before and he came back after to kiss my forehead. :) No wonder I married him. :)

  26. I love your designs! Unmm but I'd be doing the same wondering if someone changed the design I did for them...

Sorry about the New Years... psst* I'm glad hubby is okay though

  27. I think it's hard to say because you don't know the motivation for the new page, it may have nothing to do with your design! I love your designs BTW.
