Can I just say that I am raising an addict!?! Vice of choice for Miss Peach, you ask? Noggin'. Last week, Husband was out of town, and I had to make my run group. So, I got my 25 year old nephew to watch the team. Just two hours...no problem.
He did however introduce Miss Peach to Noggin'. Now, if you know me, you know I loves me some TV. Up to now, I have happily turned on PBS kids while I am trying to get rolling in the morning. I have no problem letting Super Why teach the kiddos how to read as I run around like a maniac gathering together the diaper bag. Then it's TV off...and away we go! Enter Noggin'.
Miss Peach is in a coma in front of it. What is the deal with this channel? All day long, all I hear from Miss Peach is "Mommy, I want to watch Noggin'"...ALL DAY LONG. I realize I am the parent here. I am the one who is setting the boundaries. You have not seen a tantrum until you drag Miss Peach away from her Noggin'. We will be heading to the health club soon, and I am dreading the Noggin' withdraw! Seriously...what's a Mom to do?

My son is exactly the same way with Word Girl! He LOVES Word Girl! I feel for you when it comest to the tantrums. Good luck getting out of the house!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to know that if you need a few minutes of uninterrupted discussion with hubby, you can always turn to your new friend noggin. On particularly inquisitive "why" days we find ourself asking "is Word Girl on yet?" haha!!
Oh Noggin...how well do I know thee. Only my child only cares about Backyardigans at this point. Do you know I wake up singing it now? Even if she is in the other room, she likes to just have the noise of it in the background. Must. Do. Something.
ReplyDeletenoggin.....thanks to max and ruby, little bill and a few other shows, i am able to have a life
ReplyDeleteNOggin=CRACK! It is good stuff....and highly addictive. watch out...beware.
ReplyDeleteJust don't let her watch Wonder Pets. My skin crawls at a HINT of their irritating (yet catchy) theme song...the thought of a duck with a lisp...ARRRGGG.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get noggin. It makes me very sad. But I do love PBS. One of my children is seriously addicted to tv.
ReplyDeleteAs to how to get miss peach away from it, I say head straight to the breaker box. She doesn't know what that thing is and will never connect the two. Throw the breaker. Noggin goes off. Oh well, you'll have to continue on with your day and maybe it'll be back on when you get home. I plan on using that little trick whenever mine get old enough to listen to loud music in their rooms.
Well, it could be much worse than Noggin, right? Like Barney. Or the Doodlebops? They make me sweat with fear.
ReplyDeleteThe noggin addiction want last long then it will turn into Hannah Montana ERRRR so enjoy it girl....
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing we are the parents we are suppose to set boundaries ..LOL I know but but but peace is nice too.
Ooo! I hear ya Girl! This house would not be peaceful without Noggin!
ReplyDeleteThe upside of Noggin: 1) Oobi (think Senor Wences), 2) Lazytown (the guy who plays "Sporticus" is hot and the song "Bing Bang" is like the best Europop ever). The downside: There always seems to be something on that they just must watch. I have no good advice on how to cut her off (besides declaring the TV broken and if she's anything like my girl, she'll insist you find someone to fix it). All that I can say is that at least it's not "Hannah Tanna"...
ReplyDeleteDelurking to say I FEEL YOU! My parents have my oldest ADDICTED to NOGGIN! He even knows the channel 120! and says it when we get there, or when he wakes up at my parents house...sad i know! We do not have cable so WE know PBS kids! :) good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteAnd the beauty of Noggin? It shows kids cartoons all day and all night! Just in case Miss Peach wakes up and 3:00am...she can still watch a show!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo glad we don't get Noggin. I could see my Fifi being an addict. Her TV comas are scary.
ReplyDeleteCourt's a Noggin addict too. It boggles my mind how people come up with this stuff! Yo Gabba Gabba is the one that puts her in a trance.
ReplyDeleteYup, my daughter LOVES Noggin as well. She hates all of the other networks because of their commercials.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what Noggin is.....which is probably a good thing since it doesn't sound like something I'd want Aaron to get into. I have enough problems with Thomas and The Wiggles.
ReplyDeleteMy son watched it a lot too. He's too active though to sit and watch for long, so I'm lucky. If only they would get that dratted Yo Gabba Gabba off the station. That show creeps me out.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same problem in our house, I don't get the obsession myself but at least it isn't the cartoon network :) some of those shows are scary
ReplyDeleteShhhhhh! Do NOT tell my kids about this show!
ReplyDeleteWhat Feener said. I find Noggin pretty harmless. And I confess to a weak spot for the Wonder Pets.
