Doggon'it People Like Me!

So, I joined NaBloPoMo. Check out my new badge in the sidebar...You know the drill, I post every day for a month. What that means is, I will be buggin' you all on weekends as well as during the week...Got it, good! You know I have been starving for friends who are Moms right? So, last night the playgroup I take the kiddos to had a Moms night out for sushi and martinis. I threw my hat in the ring...let's do it! I am giving these girls a try. We are all different ages, we all have different degrees of education, we are all very different. The one common thread, kiddos. I had a pretty good time. I think I will just keep signing up for the outings, and keep trying. There isn't any "click" with any of them, but it is still nice to go out just as me, not as a wife, or a mom...I mean seriously, no kids, sushi and martinis...Where is the downside?

  1. Sometimes it's nice just to go out with people who don't know you well. You don't feel pressured to be anyone in particular, like you said. So glad you took some time for yourself!

  3. Motherhood is the great equalizer. I'm so glad you had a good time. No downside seen from my vantage point :-)

  4. I don't see any downside...

You will eventually find someone or two who you click with...and the time away can be nice :)

    Enjoy it :)

  6. Check it out for a few outings...you'll know by then whether it is for you or not! It is a similar situation to my joining Curves....all different ages of women, but we all get along just fine! And, if you don't really want to talk a whole lot...just listen! And enjoy! It is good for your soul.

  7. I am glad you had a good time. I am trying to take a bit of my own advice and participate in my mommy group. It was awkward but not horrid.

  14. Going out with out little people? Oh god how I miss it - actually I just miss going out period. It actually reminds me of a quote from a friends blog "I used to be a person, now I'm a mommy".

  15. The downside is when Sissy drinks your martinis. You're a tiny person, that was for your own good!! ...or was it that I just didn't feel right ordering yet another martini for myself?

  16. What good is my secret blog name if my handle says "Joanna" - I guess it's a mommy blog and that's what the Peach calls me so 'Sissy' it is! :p

  17. Downside? What downside? I would give anything to make some female friends that I could go out with for a "girls night out"...continue with it, enjoy it, remember..there others like me out there, that just don't get those oppurtunities.....so take them while you can...you can never have too many friends.

  18. To me, the operative phrase there is ``go out as me''.

That's so important and sometimes young parents forget to look after the ``me'' aspect of their lives.

    Go with confidence ....

  19. Martinis and sushi? Darn it, I wish I lived in your neck of the woods!

  20. My moms group is filled with people who if I was honest I wouldn't probably be friends with if it weren't for this group. Still, it has caused me to stretch a bit. Also, I have dragged lots of them into blogging with me. Which is always a good thing.

  21. I have thought time and again about joining a MomsGroup but with work it's impossible. I hope you have a great time with yours!
I love a good martini Yum!

  22. GOOD for you!! WTG!!

I would definitely say keep trying. I just joined a meet-up group (which I never thought I would do), and so far, so good.

The organizer said that she wasn't finding any groups that fit what she was looking for...so she started a new one! Maybe you should do that??

I can see it now...ChiTown Running Moms. ChiTown Moms with Babies and Toddlers. ChiTown Moms who like Sushi and Martinis! LOL

Sometimes ya gotta put yourself out there to get what you are looking for.

    Glad you enjoyed yourself.
