A Night Out...I Think Not.

So I finally get out with the girls....I thought. Two other Moms and I go out for dinner and a movie. Sounds good, right? Go out have some drinks, blow off a little steam, you know not be Moms for an evening. That is what I was thinking anyway...All these Moms did was talk about babies! What to do about weaning off the bottle, what it is like having two babies, what to do about nap times, when is the best time for a playgroup....You get the picture. Scheeez, if I had wanted it to be all about babies, I would have stayed home! Any guesses on what movie they picked? Anyone? Come on...you know....Yes, The Nanny Diaries! Of course, because if I am not at dinner talking about child raising, I want to be at a movie about child raising. I mean will somebody please pass me a shot! What ever, it was a good movie, but I would have rather had a drink in my hand, while loud music is blaring, and I am dancing on a table (I don't get out much, and I was wearing my Seven jeans fer Chris'sake). I think I need to make some new friends...I don't know...What do you think?

  1. I'll be your friend. We can have drinks and pick up guys. Then dump the guys after they pay for our drinks.

  2. LOL! Oh girl...you crack me up.

Sounds like you wasted those Seven jeans! ;) This happens a lot with me and one particular girlfriend. We just seem to bring out the "mama rant" portion of our personalities in each other.

We just started a Cinema Chicks movie night at work. The nice thing is about half of us are moms so the conversation is pretty mixed...although I don't want to talk about work on a "night out" either! ;)

  3. Well, at least it wasn't YOUR kid you had to listen to... But I hear you. I remember going out to dinner once, so glad to be away from the kids and ... a kid in the restaurant screamed the whole time.

I was torn between being annoyed that I wasn't getting a night off from the kids after all and sympathetic for the parents, who were having their own night ruined.

  8. I've been known to blow-off "Mom's Night out" and Tuesday afternoon pool parties for precisely this reason.

It's not that I don't ADORE my mommy friends, but sometime I want to talk about something other than potty training tips and teething...

... and that's when I call up one of childless friends. They don't want to hear about the latest guffaw at playgroup anymore than I want to tell it.
