Mies house

I walk past this house six times a day. I know I'm gonna be in the minority, but I. Absolutely. Love. It.

There is some architectural tour group that comes around a couple times a day, and they stop in front of it to talk, take pictures, ask questions...How weird would it be to live in a house that had daily tour groups going by? So weird!

I know it's Mies van der Rohe inspired, but I don't know if it's actually done by Mies.

I have this odd attraction to houses that have a bunker feel to them. Actually, this is my 2nd Bunker House fascination...perhaps I'll drop by and photograph the Bunker House #1 later this week...

Oddly enough, while I was standing here taking pictures, who should come up behind me...
The tour group!

They waited for me to finish taking my pics before they stood in front of the house and talked about it.

I just think it would be so weird to live in a tour house..."Honey, the group is in front of the house again..."..."Go away...shoo...stop talking about my house!"

  1. It looks like a dorm? I'd love the tour group. They could bring me my paper in the mornings.

  2. I think if you bought a house like that, you would go in with the expectation that it was going to attract attention. I personally love the modern homes and Mies in particular. They sometimes feel a little form over function, but they are beautiful to look at.

  3. I have a friend who lives in an Eichler house .. I love it that a house has a label like that :)
Personally, I would be content with an "inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright" house .. or something completely the opposite, an old house, Gothic, Victorian, Queen Ann ..etc.

  4. I love it. I'm not sure I want to live in one of those mid-century modern houses, but I like looking at them. The lacy greenery in front of that one is also gorgeous.
