Did'ya run enough?

If I'm not running The Chicago Marathon, I'm out there cheering on the folks who are. It gets me pumped up to run next year (totally doing it).

Seriously, how can 40,000 people running past your house not make you wanna get out and hit the pavement?
One of the coolest things about Marathon running is that you actually compete on the same course as the elite runners.  SO cool! I love watching these guys go buy. Their bodies are machines.
Not long after the big guns go by, the street becomes a wall of people. That's pretty cool too.

I got a kick out of talking to my friend Tiffany (not a runner) she said..."I don't get you runners. I haven't run since they made me in high school. I'd like to think when I meet God at the pearly gates, he's not gonna say...Did'ya run enough?"

OK Tif. ya kinda got me on that one. I really can't figure out why I run so much. I will tell you, I get most of my best ideas on a run. Would it be crazy if I said that running keeps me sane? I kinda think it does...
Next year, Little Man will be cheering on Mommy at this corner...bring it;)

  1. "I'd like to think when I meet God at the pearly gates, he's not gonna say...Did'ya run enough?" Hahahaha. Tif is the best! I'm just trying to work up to a 5k. I don't get the marathon thing. I can applaud you guys but I'm so baffled by the IDEA of running that far.

  2. I need to start running again...so I can try to be "travel size" like the Nap Warden. Really, I don't think I will ever be travel size. I love seeing and hearing about marathons. Dammit I need 36 hours in a day, just so I can fit it all in. And good luck with training for 2011. I know for a fact that you will make it there.

  3. I have to admit that I don't get running either, but I'm a walker. I love to walk.

And that last picture is the most darling every. Good shot!

  4. I am soooooo not a runner. I'll ride a bike for 10 hours and enjoy every minute of it, though.

  5. I don't love running. I'm not even sure I like it. But it does have a meditative quality that I really enjoy. When you're plodding along. I keep telling Neil that I need a brain transcriber so I don't lose all of the good ideas I get while running.

  6. I like running and I like when I have those runs that let my mind wander. I wish that would happen more often. Mostly when I run before work I think like this..."What am I going to wear today? What am I going to bring to work for lunch? No you can't wear that, you have to work at PB tonight. Maybe I'll have a salad but the lettuce isn't washed. No that bra is in the hamper you can't wear that..." You get my drift?

  7. That is so cool. I am such a geek..I watched it online. I had some friends run it. Those elite runners are amazing. I love running..but haven't committed to doing a full marathon. I have only done half marathons.

  8. I like the idea of running and would like to but I don't really enjoy the Feeling of running :)
I do walk miles a day so I guess the results are pretty close to the same.
Except no one stands on the corner and yells encouragement when I walk past :(

  11. So cool! A year ago I watched my roommate run a half marathon and the whole marathoners were on the same course. It's actually inspiring, but I'm still not a runner ;)
