Junior year

I was one of the many folks last year, who compared Blogher/blogging to high school. I still kinda feel like the blogoshpere can be that way.

That said, if Blogher is like high school, this year was my junior year.

Do you remember your junior year? Mine was the BEST! Junior year was knowing what classes I wanted to take and where they were. It was having my group of friends, and feeling comfortable in the hallways. It was the year I felt like I fit in....that was my Blogher '10 experience.

Yes, there were TONS of parties, and no I hadn't been invited to one Nate Berkus, Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren, Nikon, Blahbitty Blah, Words and Stuff party...and you know what...it didn't matter one bit. I RSVP'd to all the parties in the hotel, and tagged along at the last minute to some really cool parties. They were all fun, but that is not what stands out for me as the best moments of Blogher '10.

First, may I say that having Bumpits in a swag bag...BRILLIANT! A group of fabulous women and I, at the very last minute ended up at a party at the Waldorf where Bumpits was a prize. (cut to us sitting in the bar at the Hilton rocking our bumpits) I have never laughed so hard, and had so much fun. Long story short...Bumpits rock!
Oh, yes I am wearing my Bumpit like a tiara! (I know that's not how Snookie does it:P)

I found myself sitting in a session Sat. afternoon, when the lovely Angry Julie Monday texted me "Dinner?". I'm all "you betcha". Then I get a text from the fabulous Cara Bee "Donger need food". I'm not sure how rock star Scary Mommy got in on this...but the Fourfecta was born.

We walked through Time Square to heaven on a bun...Shake Shack:P I have never wolfed a cheeseburger fries and Coke so fast in my life. On the way back, this odd little restaurant/bar woo'd us with $5 martinis:P FIVE DOLLARS YO!
How yummy:P We laughed, we dished, we made up new words...it was SO fun. I want these women to live in my town and meet me every weekend for drinkies!
Can you believe Laura Linney totally photobombed our picture? Can you say desperate...sheesh!

Then there was the marvelous time I had after hours on Sat. involving an enormous group of bloggers, the lobby, bubbles, chocolate...and I think a clown nose? I was a bit tipsy, a bit tired, and I don't remember everyone I met...but I had a total blast!

My point is...for me, Blogher '10 wasn't about sessions, parties,  and speakers (not that there's anything wrong with that) it was about friends, and fitting in. I don't know what my Senior year will bring...but I can't wait!

  1. The more I read about Blogher, the more I am determined to find a way to go next year. I've heard the bad stories over the last few days (thanks to one bitter blogger who keeps retweeting them.) But now the ones about seeing friends and connecting with others are coming out - and I'm super jealous that I didn't go.

    ...next year. Yeah. Next year.

  16. Oh, I was so a freshman. Less than a freshman. I think I was in junior high.

Super glad I got to meet you, though. One of my highlights.
