See this...Really tall building right? It's got some new name...in my world, it is...was...and always will be The Sears Tower.
Anyway, they are building this for viewing...There will be four glass bottom "ledges" built onto the building. The retractable boxes will extend 4.3 feet out from the side of the building at 1,353 feet above street level.
It opens in June...Ummmm....I want to pass out just thinking about it:P
No! Not only that, but I also don't want to walk underneath it anymore! And it WILL always be the Sears Tower. Along with Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park, you just can't change an iconic name...
I would never, EVER, in a million years get up on that thing. I couldn't handle the horrific thoughts of hurling myself over the edge. Or what if they put it together with Modge Podge, and oopsie, it fell apart? No. Thank. You.
Oh my goodness! I would love too, because I love that THRILL that you get when you do something crazy! But, I don't think I could convince myself! That is CRAZY!
No thanks. I get vertigo when I am near the edge of the Grand Canyon with a nice fence between me and a drop. No need for a clear observation deck for me. I get queasy just thinking about it. :)
In a heartbeart. But that word "retractable" worries me. I can just see people on that ledge when some idiot accidentally hits the switch. Like a scene from a Batman movie or something!
NO way, are you serious? I would die. Instant heart attack.
ReplyDeleteNOT for me! I certainly would not step out on that! The giant giraffe slide at the zoo gets to me and it's only about 12 feet tall!
ReplyDeleteToo scary!! But it might make for a cool photo and a great blog post (hint hint!).
ReplyDeleteI like to think I would do it. But I don't know.
ReplyDeleteNo! Not only that, but I also don't want to walk underneath it anymore! And it WILL always be the Sears Tower. Along with Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park, you just can't change an iconic name...
ReplyDeleteNope - can't say I'd do it.
ReplyDeleteMy 4 year old would be ALL over it.
There is no way I could do it. I have a huge fear of heights. Never. Ever. Ever. My stomach just flipped over thinking about it.
ReplyDeletenot. in. a. million. years.
ReplyDeleteever.
NO WAY!!!
ReplyDelete(And it has a new name?!? What is this world coming to?!?!?!?!)
When my youngest was almost 3 he mistakenly dubbed it the 'Serious Tower" which it remains to us to this day.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't as alarmed about the extended windows until you mentioned they were RETRACTABLE! as in NOT PERMANENT! Don't think I could do it!
How much you think they'll get away with charging folks to stand in long lines just to chicken out? lol

ReplyDeleteI think I just passed out.
ReplyDeleteGoing up and just looking over scares me! That is crazy what if it breaks by accident?! No way not me.
ReplyDeleteI just simultaneously passed out and threw up.
ReplyDeleteSaw that in yesterday's paper, and the week I've had, just made me start puking all over again LOL
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I would love too, because I love that THRILL that you get when you do something crazy! But, I don't think I could convince myself! That is CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteI like to pretend I would go out, but...I don't know. It looks pretty darn freaky too me.
ReplyDeleteNo way, no how, not happening. EEK!
ReplyDeleteGoodness gracious no!!! That makes me feel like vomiting!!
ReplyDeleteHELL YES! I can't wait. We saw this on Brian williams last night and I was like dude, we are going to chicago for something soon!
ReplyDeleteprobably not soon, but I hope! looks pretty cool to me!
It would terrify me and I would most likely hyperventilate and then cry involuntarily. But I would do it because crazy people can't help themselves.
ReplyDeleteI kinda don't want to do it and I kinda do. You wanna do it together in July? :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. I'm not all that scared of heights, but I am scared of shoddy work, and I'd be worried that it might break. eeeekkkk...
ReplyDeleteThat makes me want to hurl...just thinking about it makes me nervous! I am really afraid of heights and I just don't think I could handle it!
ReplyDeletePass. You know how much that building sways, right? Of course, my kids will want to do it, so shhh.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. I get vertigo when I am near the edge of the Grand Canyon with a nice fence between me and a drop. No need for a clear observation deck for me. I get queasy just thinking about it. :)
ReplyDeletethat looks amazing! Scary, but amazing!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I hope that I would try it.
It will ALWAYS be the Sears Tower. Period.
ReplyDeleteI would do it probably - maybe. But I'd be crapping my pants about it.
No way. It's like that Grand Canyon tunnel thing. NO. FREAKING. WAY.
ReplyDeleteThat said, um, when did the Sears Tower get a new name? That's ridiculous. It's the Sears Tower, you don't just change a name like that!
Okay, dumb observation...with a glass bottom, you better be wearing slacks and not a skirt.
ReplyDeleteOh HELL NO! Actually, I'm fairly certain that I couldn't physically force myself out onto that without major tears and possibly a panic attack.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap. No thank you.
ReplyDeleteIn a heartbeart. But that word "retractable" worries me. I can just see people on that ledge when some idiot accidentally hits the switch. Like a scene from a Batman movie or something!
ReplyDeleteNEVER in a million years - and it WILL always be The Sears Tower to me!
