A Carpenter, I am Not

Why do birds suddenly appear...
every time, you are near?
Just like me, they long to be close to you.
Awww, isn't that cute? The Little Man was crying in the car on the drive home, and when Mommy sings this song, he always calms down:) Everyone...awwwww.
Why do stars, light up in the sky...
every time, you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be close to you.
Seriously, it is like a magic weapon against crying for The Little Man. While it is great to have a tool such as this...try singing a Carpenter's song over...and over...and over...and over...and over...
On the day that you were born,
the Angels got together...
and decided to create a dream come true.
About a half an hour in, I started to go crazy. The car turns nutty. Everyone knows if I stop, The Little Man will cry. Soon it becomes a toss up...which is worse, another round of the Carpenter's sung by Mommy, or The Little Man crying? You tell me...
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair,
and golden starlights in your eyes so blue...ohhhh.
Let's just say, it was a long car ride home, and leave it at that:P

I am back from the beach, and I want to hug my high speed internet{{hug}}! Now I'm off to catch up with EVERYTHING (blogs, design, you name it). Hope your holiday was great...more tomorrow:)

  1. Hope you had a blast at the beach. I would love to be by the water (river excluded . . . for a number of reasons)especially since it'll be in the 90s here all week.

    Old MacDonald. Works like a charm . . .

  2. Oh, yeah. And even though I've had to sing that song dozens of times on the trip home from MI, it is worth it. Even if Old MacDonald has a toaster, a purse, and a tube of Chapstick at the farm. Don't even ask what a tube of Chapstick sounds like . . .

  3. Sadly, the only song that works with The Little Man is that Carpenter's song. I don't know why...he loves it:)

  6. My little mans favorite song was You Are My Sunshine. I used to sing that to him over and over and over and over in the car. It makes a 15 hour car ride to WI seem like a week long car ride. I still sing it in my sleep.
    Hope you fair better.

  7. Try our secret weapon. The Banana Boat Song sund with Trinity's name.

Triiiiiina, TriiiIIIiiina. Trina's growing and she's gonna get biIg. Trina, TriiIIiina, Trina's growing and she's gonna get big.
1 year, 2 years, 3 years FOUR. Trina's growing and she's gonna get big.

    Yep, that one gets old.

  8. Glad you are back girl! If I was to sing to my wee ones they might continue to cry.

OH and I love the carpenter's

  9. OK maybe you have over-used that song by now but, I'm still giving it a go the next time we're in the car. I always make the mistake of picking a song that only has 4 lines. Imagine repeating 4 lines and 4 lines only for a car ride!

  10. I can imagine any song can get tedious and cause fits of craziness engulf ones self. But still, I love that song......and I don't care who knows......

Course, I am kidding myself if I say I would not be sick of 'singing' it after only 2 times!

Try a little recorder with the song recorded. playing softly by little man....just a suggestion, then you can pop in the i-pod or sumpin'

  15. Awwwwwwwwwww!

I used to have to sing Coldplay's Yellow to my middle son to get him to stop fussing! My littlest one only wanted to hear The Wheels on the Bus! The oldest one would hear anything! LOL

  16. In high school my friends I used to listen to the Carpenters. We called it Depression music.

It's funny that such sad music would make your little guy stop crying...it always used to make me start!

  18. What if you mix it up with other Carpenter songs: We've only just begun? Rainy days and Mondays? Top of the World?

Or how about some Burt Bacharach?

Or James Taylor's Sweet Baby James?

Lots of easy listening 70's music for toddlers out there. You can be part of the revival.
