Don't Count Out the Old Broads!

Iam loving this story! Have you been watching the Olympic time trials? (I know, I am a total dork) Dara Torres is 41 years old and has a toddler. She not only secured her spot at Beijing in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, but she set a new American record doing it!You go girl! Don't count us Moms out...we still got it!
...Now if I could just get my arms to look like that...

  1. The mom of a toddler part already has her in Olympic shape. She's used to running non-stop day and night. ;)

  2. LOL! I'm laughing at the first comment.

And my arms are significantly nicer since having a baby. At least they're not as flabby as they used to be with the multiple times a day weight lifting that increases automatically.

  6. I've been watching this too! She is unbelievable. (You don't want your arms to look quite that - manly though.)

The shoes posted today over at my place!

  7. I am right there with you in Dorkville! The kids have really gotten into watching the swimming - I cheated this weekend and let them watch the trials instead of reading stories before bed!

I think I admire her more for the fact that she is a mother and still so dedicated to her sport, and less because of her age - though going to the Olympics for the 5th time at the age of 41 is awesome!

I too would love arms like that - that babies have been good for my biceps, but the triceps are lacking.

  17. What an inspiration to moms everywhere that you don't have to give up being fit once you have kids. Not that I'll ever be that fit. Or have those arms. Or swim faster than a rock. But she's inspiring, nonetheless!!

  22. Holy crap - that's seriously awesome.

Every time I watch the Olympics I think how I'm too old now to dream that big, and then there's a story like this.
