Pay Them!!!

Pay them now, pay them whatever they want, pay them, pay them, pay them, pay them...OK seriously, pay them! You know I am talking about the writers strike. Let me nutshell it for you...They want more money. Currently writers have a crappy deal with home video and DVD's, and the networks make bank. What do they want, a bigger profit share from "new media", you know, Internet and mobile phones. Seems fair to me. I mean, what is the head of NBC making, 20 million?!
The talk shows are the first in the line of fire. I'm OK with that until you get to The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. I love these shows, I need these shows. It takes a team of writers to pull these shows off, and they are out of commish' until this is settled. Not happy! Next up is soaps, they are about a week away from the carnage, I don't watch 'em but I am sure fans will not be happy. Big prime time shows should not be effected until the holidays. Yes, I am hatin' on Grey's Anatomy right now, that doesn't mean I want it to go away!
Scripted prime-time shows are in good shape through the end of the year. But midseason favorites could be affected by a lengthy strike, though a half-dozen episodes have been completed for popular shows like "Lost" and "24." Here is where the world stops for me!!! Do not be messin' with my LOST!!! It is bad enough that I have to wait 'til 2008 for my next LOST fix! Once you roll that bad boy out, you better not be pullin' it! "Half a dozen episodes", half a dozen!?! Not good enough!!!
Bottom line, pay them!!! I want my TV back, and I want it now. I need my Colbert Report! I need me some LOST! I just got Nip/Tuck back, don't take it away from me now! Pay them, pay them, pay them, pay them!!!

  1. I am not ready to have my TV taken away. I only watch one soap and I schedule my working day around it.

I figure at this point I will just have to start writing my own episodes. Wonder if I will get mad if things don't go my way?

  2. Sad thing, the last strike went 22 weeks. The big media conglomerates don't know how to operate without a monopoly. They will resist it hard...it's what they do.

  3. At least Dancing with the Stars should not have any problems.

    Survivor will survive the strike.

The Bachelor (is this still on).

My old BritComs on public television (Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By, Vicker of Dibley, The Last of the Summer Wine)...perhaps I should keep this list for the 13 lister items.

  4. I actually think that the tonight show and other such late night dribble would be better if the writers took the week off...lol

But I agree...I love me some daily and colbert...

Colbert is a brilliant show...a fake conservative show which makes fun of itself...just brilliant...

    Pay the writers already...

  9. I don't get to watch much during the daytime, just cartoons if anything... so, hopefully I won't be affected too much by this strike. I don't mind repeats of those... I just stare at the wall anyway!! :)

BUT... if there's a chance of LOST being lost... that's so NOT cool!! Here's where I'll have to join in saying... PAY, PAY, PAY!!! NOW, NOW, NOW!!! :)

  10. You mean they still haven't paid them? What are we supposed to do when they don't have new shows like Grey's [which sucks], Heroes [rocks!]?

  12. Noooooo... This is definitely a bad bad bad thing.

If there's no TV I might have to do something. Like housework. We can't have any of that!

  14. No kidding! It kills me too. I hate how much I rely on the t.v. But who are we kidding. I live in the boonies and it's too cold to take the kids out right now...so I need my t.v.!!!

  17. I agree 110%! They need to resolve this as quickly as possible. If Lost (or Heroes, or Pushing Daisies, or Scrubs) gets cut short I will personally hunt down "those that be" and get them rolling out the dough! Writers, as we know, deserve their fair share!

  18. Isn't it odd that the people who hold the purse strings here and who could pay the writers more are (as you so rightly point out) earning squillions anyway.

Funny old world we live in. Hope the writers get paid ....

  22. While they're at it, why don't they increase payment for all writers everywhere? Too often the attitude is, "Well, you're just happy to be published, so we're not going to pay you what your work is worth."
