Updates-n-Stuff...

Well, I could not pull the trigger on the laser hair removal. It was just to much money for something so frivolous. "What did you do with the money Warden?" you ask. I joined the health club. Miss Peach is taking her first dance class, while The Little Man and Mommy go swimming:) I invested the rest of the money in stocks (boring I know,I am a former trader...remember). Joining the health club is totally the right answer for me and the team. While I was there, I ran into my old tennis coach. I don't know if any of you are tennis folks? I played from grade school all the way through college. I have had good coaches along the way, and some really bad coaches. Marc, the coach at the club is one of the best I've come across. I was so psyched to see he is still there! We had a nice chat to catch up, and he got to meet The Little Man. Then he gave me the full court press to get back into tennis. I really, really want to...right now, all I a can give it is an "I might". I love tennis, and when I play regularly, I am really quite good at it (if I do say so myself). I just don't know if I can work it into the schedule with the kiddos...Plus, it ain't cheap. Something to think about.
I am loving Lil' Mac! I really had no idea how the switch from PC to Mac would go...Let me tell ya'...smooth sailing:) I don't miss the blue screen of death at all. It really is a great machine. Blog designing has been a breeze on it. I thought the switching to a smaller monitor would be a problem...not at all. Say it with me everyone...."Yay Mac!"I don't know how many of you care about this, but it's my blog, and this is what's going on in my life...I did a blog recently that really pushed me as an illustrator. I was shocked at how well it turned out. Go check it out...then come back here so you know what I am talking about. I drew everything on that blog! The beach, the horse, the car, the dog, the woman...the background, I'm tellin' ya', I drew it all! So this has me thinking..."What else can I do with illustration?" I don't really know the answer to this. I don't know if there are other markets for me to explore? I mean do MySpace folks pay for illustrations, or Facebookers, print...I just don't know? Don't get me wrong, I love blog designing and I am so going to continue doing it:) I just wonder if there are other things I can be doing as well. Thoughts...I am open for suggestions:)

  1. Awesome job! You can always upload your illustrations to stock sites like iStockPhoto and such. :) That way, all you have to do is stick your stuff on the site and it sells itself to ad companies and other designers!

  2. My husband is a graphic designer so I had to convert to the Apple when we got married and they are definitely superior - he swears they never die! I would try kickboxing classes!

  3. you rock! I love your blog!

I want to start something as well... no clue how though... we should pull our resources, well not necessarily our resources, but our ideas.

We're too smart for this... :)

  4. Congrats on joining the health club!

As for what to do with the talent... I could use a good graphic person; how are you with hard rock and heavy metal icons?

  5. NW: I love my new design and the other one? It rocks, too. You are so talented and I see another career in your future...
Wise choices with your payola. Sometimes it really sucks to be responsible, don't you think??

  6. Good choice...health club is a much better decision than laser stuff I think.
Went to Toni's blog, you did a great job on her's.
The blog you show in your post today was very detailed. You must have spent days on it. Well done!

  8. My head is still pounding from all the doubles I had the other day. I hope I didn't embarass myself too much...was I really singing? Ooops.

I'd keep investing in stocks. Some of these stocks are taking a beating and running well below the value they should be.

If you really enjoy the graphic design lifestyle, I'd educate yourself as much as possible in all the platforms people are using. Facebook, MySpace. Learn as much as you can about CSS and HTML and continue honing your artistic side. Drawing and experimenting in your art is how find the joy.

    I miss my camera.

  12. That is a GORGEOUS design. You really are talented. I am sure there are other avenues to use your illustration abilities.

Have you considered selling your illustrations to other blog designers or to iStock photo??? There is a site I came across that the woman sells her artwork for blogs and such.

I love putting blog designs together, but I can't draw my own illustration to save my life. I'm bound by what iStock has to offer. I'd love to have someone I could go to for a custom image from time to time, and I bet other blog designers would too.

And I agree about the Mac. So much fun.

Good for you joining the health club. I need to start going again. If I can kick this bronchitis... :-(

  16. First off, although laser is cool, I can't fault you for the health club and investment choices! Great, mature, reliable, adult decisions . . . (I am with Cheri, though. The time and money savings are well worth the laser treatment).

Tennis would be very cool. A great physical outlet. And, you're good at it--go for it!

Finally, the blog design is awesome! I may need to update my NW original with a new NW in the future. I think JS has a great idea with iStockPhoto. You have a great market right here. Just start opening yourself up to do other things outside of the blog world. Let us, your readers know. We are an awesome marketing force.

Also, I cannot bring myself to spend my hard earned cash on laser hair removal either! I don't know why... I absolutley hate shaving... Way to go on joining a health club! What fun.
